Taken directly from ESPN's front page of the NHL
"Did we have it backward? Going into the finals, Boston's depth was all the rage. But Chicago dug deeper in Game 1"
Really?! Boston's depth was all the rage??
A child could have figured out that they Hawks depth was the best going into the playoffs.
But I guess that's all moot seeing as how we didn't beat the Penguins. Oh well. - teh_HAWKZ

Wow maybe I should stick to books with pictures for you.
"I think it's pretty evident they don't care what I think, either," he said. "I'll jump on the soapbox. We talk about scoring more goals in the National Hockey League. We want more goals. No they don't. Don't tell me that. I've never seen anything like that in my whole life."
Cleary bumped Fleury after a hard rush to the net 3:41 into the second overtime. Babcock doesn't plan to take his gripes to the league, instead using the media session to air his displeasure.

What's a powerplay? I'm a BlackHawk Fan - victorymc98
A power play is a situation in ice hockey where a team has a numerical advantage on the ice, which gives the PP team a chance to rest-up and refresh by hanging around statically on the ice for 2 minutes (for a minor). It also offers the opportunity to practice keep-away style passing, which can be beneficial late in games during 5 on 5 play when trying to protect a lead. This gets boring, so sometimes a PP point player might choose to shoot toward the net, which enables the puck to then be cleared by the other team.
But the ultimate goal of the power play is defensive, to prevent a shorthanded goal. Good power play designs (such as the Hawks have) are usually successful at not allowing more shorthanded goals than they score on the power play.
Hope this helps. |

That's the network that would show poker re-runs, re-runs, over live hockey when they owned the broadcast rights. ESPN sucks. |

Guy, he was talking about the league in general, from management down to refs, and that is hardly 'complaining'. That's you overreacting to what a coach of another team says. |

Funny though, this pretty much sounds like what is regurgitated in every blog by this guy, but it's complaining, and not wanting consistency. I see how that works. |

Dude go away, and build me another crap GMC so I can sit in the dealership like I did today for 104 minutes since you wizards in Michigan are so great at constructing cars.....
I'm sure you were a die hard Wings fan when they sucked back in the mid 80s....right?
And no, how many cups do you have, before you ask me that? |

>JJ, spot on
>Another interesting angle to follow for Game 2 is that the Bruins had 3-Dmen play over 40 minutes last night -- Hawks had only 1 DK -- who played the most minutes at 48
>But DK has an endless motor, wondering about Chara putting in 45 minutes
>Hawks need to keep pushing the pace

If there's any truth to that rumor than there must be some reluctance from ownership to use an amnesty buyout on Lecavailer. Because the right move would be to keep that 3rd pick.
Seabrook's play has been concerning. Injury is not out of the question. I've also heard grumblings about Toews having shoulder issues. Which would explain his sub-par performance at the dot (at least for him.....) But it's the playoffs and if you're in the lineup you're not hurt. - yahoodi
I've been wondering about Toews' arms as well. I didn't notice as much last night, but in game 5 of the LA series, Toews looked like he was dropping his stick often, and rarely shot, always opting to pass.

I will, we've got a great farm system. And Datsyuk is looking to sign an extension this summer. |

Here's a thought. Open a window and google "Babcock and officiating".
After that, try searching "bitter and sore and loser" and you can read about yourself.... Among, of course, hundreds of Canucks posters but you will be close to the top. |

Sounds painful. Could explain why his FO% and goals are less than we'd all hoped for. |

Don't even waist your breath man....apprently this particular Wings fan has nothing better to do than come on our site and try to stir the pot! If he can't see that Babcock ranting in that particular article was bashing the zebras then, he is lost. Whether Babs was ranting about the NHL as a whole or what have you...it's still complaining none the less! Babcock, Torts, AV, and even Q (flipped when Hossa got laid out by Torres. Something like it was a brutal call I can't believe 4 refs missed it!) have done it....all of them do it to a degree throughout any hockey season. |

Here we go again. The "youth movement" of the Wangs.
Which happens to be older, on average, than the core of the Blackhawks.
Datsyuk may resign but he will regret it after the beating he will get in the east.
KHL reportedly offered Malking $14m per year and lost out.... Next target will be Datsyuk, watch. |

You're missing my point. When Babcock questions officiating, he questions the consistency, and the fact that it ultimately dries up in the playoffs. I see that written in almost every blog on this site, yet when the opponent's team/coach/management does it, they're complainers and whiners. How does that work? And sore loser? Hardly, I not once thought the Wings would even make it to 7 games against the Hawks. I was not on here to troll, but not one person has clarified their rationale on this subject. |

I feel the hawks D aggressively pinching and were making it difficult for Boston to breakout. However there was numerous times that Boston broke out with odd man rushes if it wasn't for the Hawks speed they would have got burned alot more this game. They need to tighten up defensively as a teamif there going to be that aggressive.
On the other side offensively I haven't seen them get this much open ice to skate the whole playoffs. Both teams need to make adjustments and its going to be alot tighter games going forward. Our depth is still better then theirs. We just need to get in front of Rask like in OT and everything will be fine let go Hawks !! |

Not sure why you seem to be offended at the suggestion that Babcock "works the refs"...it's not an insult, and is in fact a compliment.
All successful coaches have their own way of doing things. Babcock is a great coach and I personally like his style.
Lighten up and move on...there's no need to defend Babcock's honor here at JJ's. |
