Thanks. The bottom line is that ESPN doesn't have lucrative contracts with the NHL, it's not a revenue stream for them so they just don't care. They do the minimum so they can claim to be a "complete" sports coverage service, but that's all.
I still use their "Clubhouse" site, because the page layouts for the schedule, the boxscore and player roster are quite good. Just not much in the way of insightful commentary. tsn.ca is much, much better for that. - Tugboat
Yeah, TSN is pretty damn good for the most part. I'm sad that we're losing Jay and Dan from Sportscentre though |

I'm not saying that my deal is the rumour
My deal is more realistic offer
If the rumour is true then teams like the Canucks, rangers etc will offer more then that crap if it gets them the 3rd overall - Redmile247
In fantasy hockey sure, but this is real life. Not saying any deal will happen, but you're still in NHL 2013 trade mode dude. Most NHL deals post salary cap don't make sense from a hockey perspective.
Anyways, I doubt Tampa moves it. |

lol, you're a tool. Your boy Q gets in the refs face more than Babs has in his entire career. Homerism falls on your plate. I call it like it is. - snipesydangle
Your team is sitting on their butts watching the Finals on TV. I call it like it is.

I doubt it but you can watch quite a bit of their hockey stuff on their website, especially if you change your ip address to a Canadian ip address. (use a VPN or proxy) Also very helpful when traveling and you can't watch your home area stuff. |

So now Tampa does not have payroll money.
An owner who puts 44 million of his own dollars to upgrade the arena suddenly has no payroll money. Unbelievable even for a Leafs fan. - Clicker
How is it unbelievable that a not traditional hockey market may not have enough money to pay a 65 million dollar cap salary and then add on top of that another 54 million + of vinnys contract?
to me it makes sense to get rid of him because hes struggling, because tamp managment does not have the money to go around. maybe thats why they invested 44 million of his own money into the arena....an arena that can make more money from concerts and show than just the Tampa bay lighting themselves. |

Don't believe Vinik was forced to close his hedge fund. Public story was he want to spend more time on his sports and charity interests. Vinik has been a very positive influence for the Lightning and Tampa.
Will be interesting to see if this rumor has any legs. - Leafsandbolts
He showed horrible returns for several years. "Forced" may have been a strong word but there are rumors of settlements etc... floating around.
That said, Vinik will more than land on his feet. If there is some belt tightening going on it is probably only until the "closing" and the aftermath are all wrapped up. That can take years sometimes though. |

I know that ... I just think Tampa could do a much better deal
If you trade lecavelier for buyout purposes you give up something else
And if you trade the pick you get more then that
Packaging them together makes less sense |

If there's any truth to that rumor than there must be some reluctance from ownership to use an amnesty buyout on Lecavailer. Because the right move would be to keep that 3rd pick.
Seabrook's play has been concerning. Injury is not out of the question. I've also heard grumblings about Toews having shoulder issues. Which would explain his sub-par performance at the dot (at least for him.....) But it's the playoffs and if you're in the lineup you're not hurt.

And if there is this requirement that he has to play on your team before you can buy him out they wouldn't be able to fit it under the cap. - mmold
Is this true ? Have not heard that yet .... Changes things a bit |

Is this true ? (players have to play at least 30 games for a team before that team can buy them out with an amnesty clause) Have not heard that yet .... Changes things a bit - Redmile247
I do like that if it's true, it will stop a lot of the rule-bending you know GM's are trying to exploit. |

Again, the tee time thing is irrelevant, I do not play for the Wings, so I am not offended or unhappy to book a tee time.
Will someone show me press conference footage of Babs reaming the refs? And not just the one where he said he thought Abby's hit was a good one. I'd be willing to bet you'd be hard pressed to find it. But that makes me a homer for thinking the other coaches do not have anything to do with the refs. However, 'JJ'(so cute) is not for always finding reasons on why the other team was not penalized more.... Hmmmm.... - snipesydangle

I've wondered the same thing...for both TSN and CBC. I've found nothing. Had a conversation with a DirecTV rep once and they had no answer.
About the only way for us in the US to receive Canadian TV is to live very close to the border. |

Like all clubs, the week after the season ends all injuries will be reported...I'm sure many surgeries will be scheduled for July. |

Yes, but consider the fact that they've won and continue to keep winning in spite of their meek PP.

The closest thing I get to it is on the NHL network on saturdays. They show Hockey Night in Canada. |

Taken directly from ESPN's front page of the NHL
"Did we have it backward? Going into the finals, Boston's depth was all the rage. But Chicago dug deeper in Game 1"
Really?! Boston's depth was all the rage??
A child could have figured out that they Hawks depth was the best going into the playoffs.
But I guess that's all moot seeing as how we didn't beat the Penguins. Oh well. - teh_HAWKZ
East coast biased. You didn't know the E in ESPN stands for East |
