So now Tampa does not have payroll money.
An owner who puts 44 million of his own dollars to upgrade the arena suddenly has no payroll money. Unbelievable even for a Leafs fan. - Clicker
So, 44 Million on a true investment to generate more revenue versus 30 Million to buy out a play to have to spend more money on another player.
See, from the MLSE perspective, it's pocket change. The private owner in Tampa not so much. |

"Did we have it backward? Going into the finals, Boston's depth was all the rage. But Chicago dug deeper in Game 1"
Really?! Boston's depth was all the rage??
A child could have figured out that they Hawks depth was the best going into the playoffs.
But I guess that's all moot seeing as how we didn't beat the Penguins. Oh well. - teh_HAWKZ

Lecavelier
Still might not be enough from the leafs - Redmile247
fix it for ya. if they are going to buy out Lecavelier, you need to add to the equation.
so ya that should be good enough and tb can re-sign vinny for cheaper $$. |

I believe when asked by a reporter about the disallowed goal in game 3 against Detroit he said it "was a bad call" "never made contact with the goalie". Which both are true. Other than that I can't think of another time. - Blackwater13
Thanks. That really doesn't seem to be his style. I know he had to respond to the ever present whining from Gillis and AV a few years ago but that seemed to be all I could remember. |

chara should be playing soccer.
he cross checks or elbows a hawk player goes to the ref "who me. I did nothing wrong" .
someone needs to put marchant in is place. is a guy you love to hate. A good solid bodycheck that put him out for a game or two. - zazzle
Marchand is annoying as hell, but he could play on my team anytime.

Go book your tee time and keep talking about Q working the refs. Evertime Q mentions the refs postgame he gets fined. Babcock says whatever he wants. - nickmo2699
Again, the tee time thing is irrelevant, I do not play for the Wings, so I am not offended or unhappy to book a tee time.
Will someone show me press conference footage of Babs reaming the refs? And not just the one where he said he thought Abby's hit was a good one. I'd be willing to bet you'd be hard pressed to find it. But that makes me a homer for thinking the other coaches do not have anything to do with the refs. However, 'JJ'(so cute) is not for always finding reasons on why the other team was not penalized more.... Hmmmm.... |

You see how he tripped Crawford and no call was made. Not that it matters the Hawks PP was brutal vs the Bruins PK. |

some of the crap he's done and no penalty just is not fair. |

No way Gardiner is there. (He isn't a mid level prospect)
I think you are forgetting this saves at least 8 mil for Tampa Bay.
EDIT: Just commenting on the holes in this trade and not if it equals. - mmold
I'm not saying that my deal is the rumour
My deal is more realistic offer
If the rumour is true then teams like the Canucks, rangers etc will offer more then that crap if it gets them the 3rd overall |

It's funny, that was my thought too. He spends a year in Toronto and goes back to Tampa for cheaper because you can't resign a player you've bought out. Still a crazy long shot though, it's a lot of moving parts. |

You can't blame Marchand for that. He knows the refs will let him get away with the things he does so why not continue? Especially if he can aggravate the opposition and thrown them off their game. Bolland and Shaw do some similar things. |

The Canucks and Rangers need their buyouts though. Rags only have 1 anyways. |

And if there is this requirement that he has to play on your team before you can buy him out they wouldn't be able to fit it under the cap. |

OK, how about more directly... are you enjoying watching the Hawks play for the Cup while you're at home hoping wading through the monstrosity that is the major league boring season pretending to be excited? |

It's not ideal, but I enjoy it. My only consolation is that I'll be at the next 2 Griffins games. |

Vinik does have trouble. Forced to close his hedge fund and lots of rumors about why.
They may need to shed salary for real reasons. - tredbrta
Don't believe Vinik was forced to close his hedge fund. Public story was he want to spend more time on his sports and charity interests. Vinik has been a very positive influence for the Lightning and Tampa.
Will be interesting to see if this rumor has any legs.
