Can we please see some intensity on the PP! I remember seeing a breakdown a few games ago showing that a succesful powerplay starts with the man controling the puck always moving his feet, yet the Hawks all sit flat footed looking for a cross ice pass

Hawks PP = pass four times than hit a shin pad.

- waitforawhistle

Intensity, quicker decision making. They look so tentative so its easy for shotblockers to get over there. Move the puck faster.

Tigers, bud. Nice try though. Way to laugh at yourself while not being funny, too.

Shouldnt you be trolling the Eastern conference blogs now?

"Did we have it backward? Going into the finals, Boston's depth was all the rage. But Chicago dug deeper in Game 1"

Really?! Boston's depth was all the rage??

A child could have figured out that they Hawks depth was the best going into the playoffs.

But I guess that's all moot seeing as how we didn't beat the Penguins. Oh well.

The lovefest for Bruins and what I think was kind of disrespect for the Hawks from some (I said some!) media was kind of shocking to me.

Hawks are a deep, fast, good team. I even heard someone talking about how "Well Crawford was lights out but still, you wonder about him" Unreal.

lol, you're a tool. Your boy Q gets in the refs face more than Babs has in his entire career. Homerism falls on your plate. I call it like it is.
- snipesydangle

He's talking about crying to the media. Something Babs does regularly. Q doesn't. Screaming while on the bench, yeah. Every coach does.

Go book your tee time and keep talking about Q working the refs. Evertime Q mentions the refs postgame he gets fined. Babcock says whatever he wants.

I won't believe it until I see it happen, BUT... this is not the first place that I've seen/talked about this rumour.

What I heard was Grabovski, Kulemin for Vinny and the 3rd overall.

With that said... I don't see how Tampa Bay (who could buy out Vinny themselves) would trade away a pick where they ould land Drouin who would be an instant replacement for St. Louis when he retires...

Also, I'm not sure on this but I don't think you're able to amnesty anyone who hasn't played at least 30 games with your roster. Meaning Vinny would have to play the entire next season with the Leafs and then be bought out the following season as the window for amnesty would be closed for the first year. Interesting but I think it's a farce.

Yeah, but Red Wing Boy (Not a homer! He calls it like he sees it!) got a little cranky about that. Nothing better to do than just be "objective and non-partisan" on the Hawk board, evidently.

chara should be playing soccer.

he cross checks or elbows a hawk player goes to the ref "who me. I did nothing wrong" .

someone needs to put marchant in is place. is a guy you love to hate. A good solid bodycheck that put him out for a game or two.

The idea of it is to buy out vinny because tamp does not have the money to pay the players and give vinny the rest of his contract.

its more of a fincial situation than a cap, tho it affects both.

In my opinion i wouldn't buy vinny out right any anyway. keep him on as a second line. see if just a change of venue would do him some good, little excitment never hurt.

We have discovered the Eastern Conference equivalent of Mike Babcock in terms of working refs—Claude Julien.

Probably the dumbest comment I've read.

- snipesydangle

I'm impressed. Being from Detroit - reading is a major accomplishment. Congrats!

Are you saying Babcock does not work the refs? Julien was certainly trying to last night. Considering the number of calls NOT made on his team last night this was a parallel to the Wings series (where more clutching and grabbing was not called it influenced the series) so the comparison fit.

IF this rumour has any validity it would mean Toronto would have to play Vinny for a full year (at least that's what everyone says, I have never seen anything official about that rule). And they would be crazy not to if Tampa was actually dangling the 3rd pick so they didn't have to buy Vinny out. I doubt this is the case, but rumour had it that the Isles were offering up the 4th pick in last years draft if someone took Dipietro, and that was before there was a guarantee of a compliance buy out, so you never know.

Has Q even commented on the officiating these POs? Haven't seen it if he has.

Babcock really has no need to get in their face during games as he does most of his work off ice in press conferences and interviews. By game time the officials are usually doing what he wants anyways so why bother?

Obviously, I can't divulge the source. It is a very good one. Especially for Leaf stuff.

if the leafs do get vinny and buy him out, can TB then re-sign him?

So now Tampa does not have payroll money.
An owner who puts 44 million of his own dollars to upgrade the arena suddenly has no payroll money. Unbelievable even for a Leafs fan.

No way Gardiner is there. (He isn't a mid level prospect)
I think you are forgetting this saves at least 8 mil for Tampa Bay.
EDIT: Just commenting on the holes in this trade and not if it equals.

I believe when asked by a reporter about the disallowed goal in game 3 against Detroit he said it "was a bad call" "never made contact with the goalie". Which both are true. Other than that I can't think of another time.

Vinik does have trouble. Forced to close his hedge fund and lots of rumors about why.

They may need to shed salary for real reasons.
