So, Shero wins the GM award. I guess making deadline deals gets you award, even if the trades fail to get the job done. At least he tried - the results don't mean crapola. - mohel
It's a vaguely defined award. Honestly, I would actually give it to the Blue Jackets GM. Guy made some great trades and had that team in contention until the last week against very low expectations. It may sound odd but...
Why Shero? He has two of the best players in the world and added more talent to it. How the hell does that merit recognition?
That heavy road sked would have KILLED most teams. Q navigated us beautifully through those rocky waters and what a ride it was. - philco28
Having a more highly thought of team to begin with hurt Q. because the streak won't be broken for a long time and won't ever be broken by a team with a one week training camp.

Hawks go 24 unbeaten to begin the year with a road heavy sked and go wire to wire in the regular season standings.....and a coach whose team finished in 7th place wins Coach of the Year ?
FUG OFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
It's probably a blessing though since Coach of the Year is a curse, but Q's management of the roster through our incredible season has been
PHUCKING OUTSTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANDING. - philco28
Yet there are those on here who believe the Hawks win in spite of him.......

Understood, but you can also use that theory to say Shero shouldn't have won the Jack Adams.
Shero is very well thought of and has been really good at making the cap work with some very expensive players.

I don't think it should be a popularity contest. While being a good cap guy is important for the job, I would think winning would trump that. It seems to me that he has failed to surround some great talent with they type of guys needed to win.

I think Joel also should have won it due to the incredible streak, but let's not discredit what MacLean has done in Ottawa. No Spezza and Karlsson for most of the year, Michalek and Anderson missed half of the year, and the team HEAVILY relied on the young players to carry them. They didn't have one player eclipse the 30-point mark. Only three players even cracked double digits in scoring. Paul MacLean did an excellent job coaching the team.

Highly thought of ? Can't recall exactly, but lot of experts had us finishing mid pack to up the track.

Good. Hold morons accountable. No matter what city, that's unacceptable. In fact, they should run ads on the scoreboard after fans are leaving the arena telling them they'll lose their belongings and go to prison if they're dumb enough to riot.
In theory I'd agree with that sentiment. But this was more of an underdog kind of thing. He had the thing locked in the bag. If only the voting was conducted after the playoffs were over

I'm not too riled up about the coaching award, because I think both are deserving and in most years Q would have won it. The GM award is a mystery to me, though. Shero is like Jerry Krause, getting to start the process with two top 5 or 10 players in the league. All he has to do is build around a bunch of stars with role guys; instead he makes the splashy deadline deals for the "sexy" guys available, two of whom were stars on their team. He already had an all-star team and only needed a few Shaw types. His reward was the GM of the year award - and an arse-beating in the playoffs.

Throw Ottawa a bone....like Mr. P said on Twitter...there's only ONE TROPHY Q is worried about winning.

You and I and the people who vote can't define GM of the year....Being a new award doesn't help.

Fargin' A, Jack!! I have zero doubt about the truth of that statement. I can see some of his players being pissed on his behalf, though. They seem to like the mustachioed ice hole!

Stan Bowman finished in fourth. I thought Bryan Murray was most deserving. Shero won because of his "sexy" additions. He wasn't deserving, though.

Most of your posts seem to be in defense of Q and calling everyone who has ever questioned him retarded. I think we figured out your opinion the first 300 times you posted that.
