I didn't start growing mine until the Hawks were down 3-1 to Detroit. I stopped wearing any Hawks stuff and grew a beard. It has worked so far, although I am itching to wear a sweater on game day.......... - droe411
I don't bathe, brush or wear deodorant on game days...cue the STINK avvie

Can he share with Christian Ruuttu and Steph Beauregard seeing as that they were the return for Hasek? - Morganskaner88
IF keenan had his way....
Hawks would have had Roenick, Chelios, Hasek, and Lindros all in their primes. With Larmer......

So what exactly was the rumored deal for Lindros again? Belfour, smith, a lot of prospects, picks, and cash? Quebec lucked out, though. Forsberg alone was worth it plus some big pieces, too |

I think you are right....and I'm sure the deal breaker was the cash that WWW had to part with..... |

And this was just one small part of the downward spiral of Hawk fan hatred towards one William Wadsworth Wirtz.
The only reason this trade didn't happen was simply because WWW didn't want to part with cash. |

+1. But who will do it? Especially with lucic on the ice with him. Hawks really need to figure something out with them. Hammer and Oduya got victimized a lot by them |

Yeah that figures. But, we would have had great center depth with lindros and roenick but what about the wings? Still wonder what the team would have looked like with the deal. Ended up being between rangers and Flyers. Can't remember ranger offer. Think weight was a big part of it? Maybe amonte? |

Throw Bolland-Bickell-Shaw...Keith and Seabrook. That's the line you have to shut down.... |

The reunion of that line is sending shivers down my spine.
Shut down that Krejci line and the rest will follow. |

Thought about Tony O, except that little Cup thing kinda help make my choice, plus the 500 game streak. |

I am also shocked at the level of discord for the Canucks. That organization is a complete mess. Utterly in decline
Now, about the level of disgust and total disrespect for the Canucks team and their fans.... Your level of pride at what you describe as getting "under the skin of players and fans"..... Nope, just complete contempt for the team's style of play as well as the conduct of the fans. Also, the excuse making and entitlement of your GM and FO in general makes the league sick.
Example: Ian "explained" the other day after he had said for weeks Eakins was the best candidate for coach that Gillis was really just interviewing him to get under the skin of the Leafs. That you deliberately let the Oilers have him.
Further, it wasn't just the burning rioters but the garbage you Canucks people pulled all off season. Vandalizing Lucic's family's house and church. All the excuse making. Sick.
Team in decline and Pulford Jr. (Gillis) running the show. Moving to a competitive division will make the slide happen even faster. It's beautiful justice.
Lose Gillis and a few of those lowlifes like Burrows. Remake the locker room and find some new leadership that doesn't tolerate the diving and dirty antics. Would love to see a team with class there again.
Note: Marchand is cheap but he is also getting lectured on the bench. Carcillo sees the same from the Hawks. - tredbrta
Hey man, I agree with alot of what you say, but also you need to realize that alot of what was done on that cup run, was the doing of bandwagon fans along for the ride and the pissup. The rioting and the crap with Lucic's family, all done by people who are not the fans that cheers for the team day in and day out. These are the same idiots that don't have a clue that 4 years earlier Lucic lead the Vancouver Giants to a memorial cup.
I also agree the the Canucks window is closing and they are facing some GM issues and coaching issues and the team needs to be lead in a direction of class instead of BS. The funny thing is, the guy who should be leading and often speaks out against the diving, whining and excuses, you probably hate as well; Kevin Bieksa.
Anyway I'm hoping we can do a moderate rebuild and start getting some production from youth, cause if we don't it will be a full rebuild mode for us in a year or two.

Why not Ruff Lindy ? - philco28
Laaaate reply...I've always seen Ruff as an Eastern Conf coach, not super familiar with him, but the Sabres always seem so soft. I feel any team that is coached to not go after the guy who just laid out your goalie (Lucic on Miller), wouldn't make it in the Western Conf. |

Yep and then the Roenick debacle that landed Zhamnov, Craig Mills, and Ty Jones. If memory serves me correct the Isles offered Ziggy Palffy, Scott Lachance, Darius Kaspairitis, their 1st rounder that year, and I believe some depth centerman. Still not great but at the time a much better offer. |

What was it like for the fans then? I wasn't born until 1978, so I only remembered the Hawks losing the finals to the Penguins. It must have been really upsetting when Tony let that goal in. Were you at the game? Listening on the radio?
Not trying to drum up frustration ... just interested in what the fans felt when it happened and the aftermath. - stp1978

Hawks had Lindros - WWW just had to say yes and it was a done deal. Obviously, the miser said no. |

Was glued to the family Zenith listening to Lloyd Petit. Heart broken is about all I can about how I felt. Espo and #2 (Bill White) were my favorite Hawks that year. Still a very sore spot to this day. 2010 would have been sooooooo much sweeter if the Hawks had raised the cup on Montreal ice.
PS Did I mention I'm a big time Hab hater?

Wonder how Lindros' career would have been different without having to play Scott Stevens so often if he was a Hawk? |
