Gotta agree here...the goaltenders and captains are the two people on a team I would count Cups as a measuere of success for, when all other things are relatively equal. |

How many rings does Tony O have? How many for Hall? Speaking as a '71 SCF survivor, Tony O can burn in hell.... - Beaver-Warrior
What was it like for the fans then? I wasn't born until 1978, so I only remembered the Hawks losing the finals to the Penguins. It must have been really upsetting when Tony let that goal in. Were you at the game? Listening on the radio?
Not trying to drum up frustration ... just interested in what the fans felt when it happened and the aftermath. |

For the Anti-Rushmore I think it has to be the much hyped ABC line that would resurrect our orGAN I zation! Maybe Joe Murphy too. |

An interesting name is Nick Bjugstad. According to the Panther blogger, he could be pushed out if they end up with MacKinnon. I think Bjugstad could be a perfect fit for the Blackhawks. He's got terrific size (6'6''), though once he fills out his frame (he's currently 215 pounds), he could make for an absolutely lethal weapon. He's still a raw talent, but according to his scouting report he's got great skill as a two-way player, and he has a very good shot. He was the 10th overall pick in the draft a couple years ago, so you know he's highly regarded (he's also only 20-years-old). Depending on if Florida dangles him around, I think it would be in the best interest of the organization to at least get a feel for what it would take to acquire him. - TommyHawk
He would be a great pick-up if they do trade him. I guess Tallon really wants to improve right now. It won't cost as much to get him over getting the #2. Interesting to think about something around TT for bjugstad. Other things added on both sides probably |

Can he share with Christian Ruuttu and Steph Beauregard seeing as that they were the return for Hasek? |

I remember all the rumors leading up to that thought it would be Gilmour for Grosek and one of their young D-men, I can't remember his name but he ended up being a bust. It would have been bad enough if it was Gilmour for grosek straight up but having to add our best young player at the time really made that trade awful |

Was glued to the family Zenith listening to Lloyd Petit. Heart broken is about all I can about how I felt. Espo and #2 (Bill White) were my favorite Hawks that year. Still a very sore spot to this day. 2010 would have been sooooooo much sweeter if the Hawks had raised the cup on Montreal ice.

I would try something like Bolland, a prospect, and our 1st for Bjugstad and Goc. I think that the move would make a lot of sense for both teams. Marcel Goc would replace Bolland on the third line. He wins face-offs 52% of the time, he's bigger than Bolland (about two inches and 25 pounds), and is very good defensively (including the PK). He also comes $2 million dollars cheaper. |

Who the Hawks receive in return for handing the Cup to Boston in the late 60s? I mean we know about Brock for Broglio but this has to be worst trade in Chicago history, right? |

Yeah those were bad years. But that Nylander-sullivan-Daze line was fun to watch at least. Also I think daze's best yeat was playing with Savard and Probert |

I agree that in general most Wing fans are pretty decent and also generally are pretty knowledgeable. I disagree that they are as rabid as Chicago fans. I believe that comes from the last decade and a half of the Wings being one of the powerhouses in the NHL. They have come to expect it (which isn't a bad thing) and I think that when the Wings are not near the top of the league, the fans become "less interested".
In other words I think they have taken winning for granted and really don't know how to handle this temporary dip in the Wing's dominance. I say "temporary" because I have a lot of respect for Ken Holland as a GM and also Mike Babcock as a coach.
I have said, this year's Wings team that almost eliminated the 'Hawks reminds me of the 'Hawks team that the Wings eliminated in the '09 WCF. That 'Hawks team had a few veterans along with a lot of youth that had no playoff experience. That 'Hawks team got a taste of the playoffs and what it means to face a talented elite team. This year's Wings team was a bit more successful in the WCF compared to the '09 'Hawks (more wins), but in the end they got the same lesson (thankfully).
So if this was a "down year" for them, what many here (Detroit) don't realize is that most teams wouldn't mind having what is a bad year for the Wings.
I predict that the Wings will do very well in the East, although I will miss the rivalry.
Having said all that, enough talk about the Wings. Go Hawks!!! - GoHawks63
+1
Reminds me of the Atlanta Braves a bit where the fans just sort of expected to be in the World Series for a while and had empty seats at playoff games.
I'm with you though; my in-laws are all Wangs fans and it's so much better facing them having won that series.

I found this on mbumholesports
anyway this is the word according to them on Horton:
According to a source with direct knowledge of the situation, Nathan Horton has been dealing with chronic left shoulder subluxation, which caused him to leave Wednesday’s Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals during the first overtime. The injury was originally suffered when Horton fought Penguins forward Jarome Iginla on April 20.
Horton has received shots prior to each game to deal with the pain, and though his shoulder has popped out of its socket at points during the playoffs, Wednesday’s occurrence, when he bumped into Blackhawks defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson. Yet he is second in the NHL in playoff scoring (behind only David Krejci) and is leading the entire NHL in plus minus this post season. This guy is friggin gamer.
Anyway, there had been speculation that Horton had been playing with an "upper body injury" but it was nothing more than a speculation (and vague speculation, at that). Now that the exact injury has been revealed, it will be interesting to see if the Blackhawks will get more physical with Horton in an attempt to exploit the shoulder.
it goes on to say how the bruins will still beat the Hawks etc etc etc
Just thought I would share - Elliots07
I would say the odds of Horton's injury being pre-existing are almost 100%...
Not only from what you wrote but by what happened to him before he skated off dragging his arm.

Yeah, I can imagine that must have been hard for any fan of the Hawks to take. Especially against Montreal. That's one that always (rightfully) draws the ire of folks around here who lived it. Us young'ns know it's part of the history but don't have that connection to it.
Hope the Hawks can get another one for us all this time around! |
