Sorry Al...had things to do. I think not playing him is the mistake...

...I understand why he's almost certainly gone after this season.

Finally decided to join after reading this blog for a while. Born and raised Chicagoan and diehard 'Hawks fan for just about all of my 50 years on this earth. Still miss the Stadium and remember the Lorne Molleken, Mike Smith and Alpo (mumbles) years.

Six years ago got a job offer that I couldn't refuse that required my family to relocate to the Detroit Metro area. First thing my then 11 and 9 year old sons asked was, "Do I need to be Red Wings fan?" I told him not if they want to still be part of the family.

It was tough to endure the Wings eliminate the Hawks our first year here in the WCF. Watched, cheered and yes cried from afar when I watched the 'Hawks win in '10. Something I was wondering if I would ever see in my lifetime. We drove in for the parade and were fortunate to be right up front by the stage. We took special joy this year in seeing the 'Hawks own the Wings in the season. We were there for the 2-1 shoot out win (Kane) and the 7-1 blowout. We wore our Hawks jerseys at The Joe proudly.

When the Hawks went down 1-3 in the series I dreaded what looked like might happen as I saw co-workers and friends gloat. I took immense joy when the Hawks came back. As much as some Wings posters like to talk about how great the Wings fans are, I can tell you that most fans had written the team off. They only got excited when the Wings got hot in the end, and when the Wings lost, there were many that had already turned on Babcock and Holland. So much for true fans.

Cheering the Hawks from Red Wings country and hoping we can come home for another parade.

It's pathetic.

I know we all joke that they should start declining penalties, but all joking aside, I honestly think that the PP is a real momentum killer. They are more likely to score 5 on 5 than on the PP. Sad fact.

It's true Ogi...our pp is so impotent, even an 85 yo Hugh Hefner isn't concerned about Kompon and co.

Duncs has been OUTSTANDING in the post season and it's GREAT to see that Duncs again, but i'd actually rather see Oduya out there on the left point.

I still can't figure out what it is? Keith was on the 1st unit during the Cup run. Campbell was on the 2nd. So I wouldn't say trading Campbell. Obviously Buff played a huge role. I still think shaw can do a great job in front. Bickell could if they ever give him more time. He scored a big pp goal earlier. Is it that one move they always did with Kane to Toews for the stuff shot that people read now?

I feel the hawks D aggressively pinching and were making it difficult for Boston to breakout. However there was numerous times that Boston broke out with odd man rushes if it wasn't for the Hawks speed they would have got burned alot more this game. They need to tighten up defensively as a teamif there going to be that aggressive.

On the other side offensively I haven't seen them get this much open ice to skate the whole playoffs. Both teams need to make adjustments and its going to be alot tighter games going forward. Our depth is still better then theirs. We just need to get in front of Rask like in OT and everything will be fine let go Hawks !!

- Ruboy88

Boston's forwards seem to play higher up in their zone. They were giving no room to our D and were great at chipping it past them and going for the odd-man breaks. We were lucky several times. And again like phil said, our forwards need to be all over their D, not letting them get off shots

My 2 cents about game 1

Firstly, anyone else notice seabrook with a lot of lazy errant passes a few of which turned into good opportunities for the bruins? Very out of the ordinary for big # 7

Secondly, the hawks are waaaaaayyyyyyy over thinking the pp, they're looking for that slam dunk instead of simplifying to just shooting low off the pads and driving te net. Way to pass happy. Wanna score a goal on the pp? Plant bickell right in front and take shots from the point and circles low off the pad, this will do one of two things

A) force rask to make a stop through traffic and hopefully giving up a juicy rebound for bickell, toews, or shaw (or anyone else with half a sack for that matter) to charge in an tap it home

B) it's going to pull the bruins d out of position trying to clear the rebound that will open up the back door every hawk seems to drool over. And when your on the man advantage you, drum roll.......... Have more players on the ice than the opposition to track down any rebounds and set up those passing plays they are so enthralled with

What I saw game one was so deflating and inspiring at the same time. They hawks were outplayed in that game and frankly probably should have lost. With that being said, basically no offense from our top six and beating the boston bruins 4-3 is absolutley ridiculous. This leads me to believe once they're heads are one straight the hawks will be able to play their game which is, playing with a couple goal lead. If Crawford plays the way he did, like every periods ot the rest of the series, I say it's over in 5. Can't wait for the rest of this series, gonna be a lot of great hockey to watch

Unless things change dramatically in the series or there is an injury Stalberg has played his last game as a Blackhawk.

I now believe this is true and if it was always his fate we should have traded him a the dealine because now the Hawks get nothing for him

I actually wish they would sign him as his upside is still there

Remember last summer this blog had Hammer being traded and he has been one of our best DMen all year

Welcome aboard!

I moved up here with my wife that summer after we won the Cup or maybe the summer after. Regardless we're here and was at the Joe for those two reg season games and game 4 of the playoffs (which was beyond depressing).

There are a lot of decent Wing fans up here but in addition to Snipsey there are a few that like to come on here and talk trash. Still waiting for dat's who to come back on here to let me have it. He was going to after game 6 because the Wings were going to win that game to bounce us. Ha! Didn't happen. I also remember that game when they panned the crowd, most of the "super-fans" had left because the Hawks were up 4-2 with a couple minutes left; tons of empty seats!

So for all the bravado and ridiculous claims they're no better/worse than any other fan base; but not as good as the Hawks of course!

I sort of agree the Hawks should have traded him however he could still be valuable if he needs to fill in as an injury replacement or if Q wants to throw more speed at the Bruins. Right now the Hawks biggest advantage is depth.

Stalberg will wind up elsewhere next year and hopefully for him he'll get the big bucks, top 6 positioning, more playing time and more powerplay time. If he gets all that he'll wind up on a so so team because on a good team he is a role player and on some good teams, merely a depth player.

I've been awake all season and I don't recall winning being a problem with Stals in the lineup.

Stalberg is a handy player against some teams, against others he just takes up a roster spot. Against LA he didn't do much, against Boston there is no reason to think he will either. He's nice to have as a depth player or for Insurance or is Q wants to change his strategy and add additional speed, but right now I'll take Bollig's hits and safer game over Stalberg's speed and giveaways.

He's KILLING US softly with these brainfarts...and it's actually perfectly ordinary after watching him all these years. He makes some of the worst d'zone passes a professional defenceman can make. Standing in the corner, flat-footed and he'll throw it right up the middle with no mustard on it. And what's worse, he does it again and again and again and again

The spacing on the power play has been terrible.

Also, while everyone mentions the Leafs speed giving Boston problems, their power play did as well. The Leafs shot from every angle into traffic and banged in rebounds. They are second in these playoffs in pp conversion with 5 goals in 21 pps. While it is a small sample size, it was all against Boston.
