If you're happy with Malkin taking $10mil against the cap, I hope you're happy with cheap fillins everywhere else. I cant see room for Letang after that. Im not exactly sure how the new CBA works, but the cap is going down to $60, isnt it only allowed to go up a slow % every yr?
- sammy87

I agree. I would prefer one elite player (i.e. Crosby) and a better cast.

The Shero press conference is being streamed on the Pens site if anyone is interested. Should start any minute.

Ideally we get good contributions from guys on entry level deals for the next couple of seasons (Bennett, Despres, other defensive prospects).

Bylsma 2 year extension... Assistant coaches come back (except Meloche).

Not surprised by Bylsma's extension, but a little surprised that Reirden is back.

New CBA, so it's not like Malkin would be making $10 million if he could sign a year ago.

How can a coach that gets out coached consistently in playoffs and to lesser teams during the reg season keep his job!

he didn't use Bennett despres and iggy correctly, he couldn't fix the pp, the goalies were/are a mess...

I just don't understand

Wrong attitude to have. When was the last time the cap was $70 million? Thats where it is headed in 2 years.

Cap will be at a minimum of 75M by the time Malkin's deal expires, probably more.

Plus, both Malkin's and Letang's extensions won't hit until 2014-2015, so they will not be a problem this year.

Do the Blues fire Hitchcock? Wings havent been in a Conference Final since 2009, should the Wings can Babcock?

I thought the new CBA was to limit the growth of the cap so it doesnt go from 40-70 in 7 yrs? Are you saying 75 by the end of Malkin's old or potential new contract? IF it's the latter, then that means by the time Malkin retires him and Crosby will be taking up about 1/3 of cap space for the next 8 yrs.

they aren't also going on 15 game winning streaks as well as be number 1 in the conference...

atleast with babcock he has coached his way into the Stanley cup enough times to keep his job. Wings arnt getting blown out in games and shut out by lesser teams...

as well as not going 0-15 on the pp

I'm sorry, but the Boston series wasn't Blysma's fault competely. Some of it was, but you can put the blame on players as well. Crosby had his worse 4 game stretch in his career, just to name one.
