I'd never do a Letang for Girardi straight up. If you add JT.Miller, he's yours.

Nah I can't include him. Well chances are you gotta trade letang down the line or you lose him for nothing.

It'll never happen with us but it is a perfect match with the two players

Pittsburgh's coach? Nope. He is flawed.

So, basically its McD and Girardi. If Staal s third and he is a major, major question mark, that tells me alot about what you think of MDZ.

Girardi is a better defenseman. I'm not sure you watched the play-offs this year or last. Everyone saw it and saw Letang's flaws.

Girardi alone is not worth Letang. It's just my opinion.

On second thought, this makes no sense either. Like Letang, Girardi is a UFA after the season, so ... we need someone locked up more than one year.

There isn't as much difference between the two. One is more defensive minded, while the other is a forward playing defense. If you add, its a third round pick, not a premier prospect.

didnt know that about him. would hate to see him bolt. we need assets that are going to be able to contribute long term. although if we are doing this hypothetical that wont happen anyway, why not take it even further? a sign and trade involving both locked up long term? could be a potentially great hockey trade for both teams.

It's easy to kick a guy when he's down. Perhaps he wasn't that good but so wasn't most of our team. Changing d partners every time doesn't help much either. I really like Girardi and I think he'd do well in Pittsburgh but I also know how valuable Letang is for us.

As I said, there is little difference between the two. Easy to kick a guy when he was down? He was God awful last year against Philly and terrible defensively in this year's play-offs, especially against the Islanders. No, changing D partners isn't a good thing. There needs to be stability. However, the way he plays - he is a forward, not much of a Dman.

Value in Girardi is close to Letang IMO. Letang blows Girardi away offensively, but defensively - its reversed, but not large.

Relax dude, the deal would never happen. You continue to overvalue him a bit. You want Shattenkirk + another major component for him. That is too much.

It has to be a young ready Dman on entry level contract; a first round pick and a forward prospect IMO. Sounds like the Staal deal. Except that young Dman better be good, not a prospect.

I never had major concerns about Letang's defensive game nor thought him to be a Mike Green or Karlsson type of player. He wasn't what we expected indeed but he'll rebound back. That said, he probably will make too much money. Perhaps a sign and trade for Girardi + could work. I don't think Daniel will get anything above $5-5.5M, will he?

Gonchar got 5 million and Streit probably will as well. You tell me what Girardi will make. Thank Dallas and Philadelphia for grossly overpaying old Dmen and in Streit's case, a lousy Dman.

I could say Shattenkirk is worth Girardi in a straight up deal. I'm not playing NHL13 here, just my perception
