True. Gonchar and Streit were awesome players in their prime but it's been a while now and they still get contracts above $5M. Unreal. I can't see Letang getting less than $6.5M (and that's for 8 years!). If you sign him for 5 years you probably will have to spend $7 to 7.5M per.

in all seriousness, I hope we trade letang regardless. you could argue that this is our last real piece with significant trade value to revamp this team.

penguins need to get younger and faster at forward. Penguins should be looking for 2 young forwards with potential and a 1st round pick. maybe more if you can get a gentlemen's agreement with the team and letang.

losing letang and not getting a suitable replacement would be worrisome.
