Using it as an example. I'm not opposed to dealing him in division. We know his strengths, but the rest of the team knows his defensive weaknesses.

The ONLY team that can give you a good NHL ready Dman in division really is the Rags.

Sort of illustrates how difficult it will be to replace him with something that's acceptable. Further illustrates Shero's draft strategy.

So Jack Johnson is below Gogo and Whitney since Letang belongs on that list. How bad can he be?

I'm happy to see they changed that stupid "font" and changed the numbers.

They look a lot like the Canada Team.

Ray drafted this way full knowing two things ... there could come a day Letang needs to be dealt and Ray understands the value of PMD's in this game.

The same reason I haven't bought my Ferrari yet. The asking price is ridiculous....

I know I'm just dying you figure they would lower since he's been available so long.

Would love to get Shattenkirk out of SL. Three way deal of some sort.

One thing can be said, Wilkes Barre's D core will be scary talented next season. Harrington, Maatta, Pouliot, Dumoulin, D'Agostino, Samuelsson, Ruopp

Very cartoonish.

I like the jersey as well, just would prefer a darker green. The stripes are cool.

I guess it could be worse...right?

"I think you need a reality check" my friend. Oneonta already told me they won't move him. Ever. I threw Shat's name around quite a bit here.

I was expecting something like this. The dark green.

Btw, it's time for the Pens to change their jerseys. Hopefully they will.

Why would Shattenkirk be dealt. To me, if I'm STL, I wouldn't deal him straight up for Letang.

Letang better offensively; Shattenkirk better defensively. I wouldn't do it if I were the GM of STL, especially after what I saw of Letang last year versus Philly and this year's entire playoff season.

I wouldn't either, but correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't STL need help up front?

That's why I said it would have to be a three way deal with a forward from another team going to STL. Stl is going to have a lot of $$$ tied up in the defense and I imagine Pietrangelo is their first priority (also an RFA).

Who knows, that's why I never propose deals, but it seems with the addition of JBO, STL will have a lot of cash tied up in the D.

The Blues have 24.5 million in cap space, with 10 forwards, 4 defensemen, and 2 goalies signed. The 3 big people they need to sign are Pietrangelo, Shattenkirk, and Stewart. They will still have money to go after a free agent top 6 forward after signing those 3.

Edit: Berglund is also a RFA

I'll say this, I'm not convinced that Letang won't be able to redeem himself in his own end. I think under the right system, he's easily a top 5 defensman in the league. Probably would have won the Norris this year if he didn't get hurt. Coach him up. Work on his decision making and he'll be a perennial Norris candidate.

Why can this be so hard? Kris, if you're reading this, re-sign now for $6.5M and get over with it.

I'm not undervaluing him. His contract demands are going to limit the bidders. My first choice is to keep him, but it's growing unlikely after today's news. Also, since Disco and his system is back, we could use a guy that makes better decisions and I'm not confident that improves with our coach.

I agree with this. The only problem is if he won the Norris, it would be because of his offensive production as a Dman, nothing to do with his defense.

Not really. Did you not see the play-offs this year and last? He is very good, but a flawed player as well.

Not undervaluing him, but I'm cognizant of his contract demands might limit the bidding. TIOPS is saying Letang's camp is putting out the vibe that he wants 7-8 mil. Plus, he's only got 1 year left on his current deal. Those items are going to affect his value.
