Let me preface this by saying I like Eberle alot and I would do that on the surface. However, Edmonton wouldn't because they would be scared to lose Letang after one year. He wouldn't resign there.

Does Eberle make us more play-off ready in that deal? Sure, it would open up another trade of someone like Neal or Kunitz, for other pieces.

Here's a thought...

Why don't you stop pretending you know what all the GM's and players in the league would and wouldn't do?

No. I said Rinaldo isn't close to being a Matt Cooke as far as doing good things on the ice and won't reach that level.

That's not a question that can be answered. Eberle would bring a lot of skill and youth to an area where we currently have none outside of Bennett. Letang leaving would open up a spot for Despres who might not be as productive offensively but could be better defensively at some point. Also you could assume Eberle would replace Letangs points. Lot of variables I think Letang is a special player but he's earned the right to make a lot of money if he wants that you take the best deal available. Your not going to get many better players then Eberle
- dbell646

Problem with Eberle is the 6 mil cap hit. That really restricts Shero with filling the spots needing filled this season. Eberle would look awesome on Crosby's line though........

I don't value Gusty.

Schenns are very overrated as well as the next Ron Francis. Couturier is still young, but he regressed a bunch this year. The jury is still out on him. Brayden showed improvement, but he isn't worth his salary. Not even close. He better make a huge improvement next year or that 3.1 goes down.

- Oneonta Penguin

Shows how much you know. He made 900k last year and 810k this upcoming year.

At 20 years old he played at a 40 point clip last year (expanded)...

Couts had a very similar year to his first offensively, but was our best defensive forward... and it wasnt even close.

I would like to know how many of the Flyers games Oneonta Penguin watched the last season or two. To speak so authoritatively, I'd think he tuned in for all of them.

Traded to the Pens for Letang and 12 players to be named later.

Just by reading his posts, id say four.. two of which were encore presentations that he hadn't realized he had already watched.

Ideally it would be a deal made next summer but obviously that's not happening.

Having Despres and Bennett on ELC's and not resigning Iginla or Morrow might make it feasible. Really only have to worry about next year because the Cap will be back up the following year.

Again, I love Eberle and know the skill he would bring. I look back at the Boston series and ask myself, does it change with Eberle in and Letang out? We have skill guys. There is a certain element we are obviously missing outside of a head coach and is Eberle that missing element? Of course, ChrisMS thought Iggy was the missing element and we saw how that worked out.

This is why, among many other reasons, why no one takes you seriously. The Penguins missed the playoffs for 4 seasons. We had 5 top 5 picks, 2 of which are gone, and 1 of which most Penguins fans want seen gone. We were lucky to get Crosby and Malkin, but what Shero has done to build a team that consistantly is a Cup contender is why the Pens are so successful.
- cap1681

I feel the need for a group hug. We're basically saying the same thing. I just said Shero is very good, but one has to discount the core of Crosby and Malkin.

On a separate note, I feel that if one comes on Hockeybuzz so that they can be taken seriously by people named IceDog, well that would be very sad. You don't become Da Man by worrying what the peons think.

You speak the truth and hope you can awaken one poor soul.

Good day my friend.

Cheers!

- Daman

You singled me out...I feel special.

Just because I'm tired of hearing that argument doesn't mean I don't understand what you are saying...although I think too much has happened with other players...injuries to the stars...etc...to say the Pens are great only because of them.

Your half witted insults (about buses...peons...pour souls...etc) aren't going to change my mind and certainly aren't going to make me think you are smart.

But hey...if it makes you feel better...carry on.

I watched alot of them. You clowns are fine adding your two cents about Pittsburgh, but its not ok for me to add about Philly? You didn't qualify for the play-offs because your team was flawed in many ways and you didn't have the farm system to bail you out with the "injury" problems. Funny thing, you weren't playing well when you didn't have the "injury" problems. Pittsburgh saw Crosby miss 12 games; Letang 13; Malkin 17; Martin 14; Neal 8 and still finished with the best record in the east.

The intriguing thing about it is it would pretty much lock up your top 6 for the next 6-8 years. Crosby, Malkin, Neal, Eberle, and Bennett. All guys 27 or under who belong to the team for a long time.

Again it can't be answered. Who knows what Despres brings to the line up in that Boston game playing Letangs minutes. And who knows if Eberle finishes or even gets chances for that matter. Any team without Letang on it appears to be worse and the pens have struggled at times when he was injured. However the pipeline is loaded with a lot of young talent at D. Nothing at forward.

I thought I was being respectful in opining about Pittsburgh, personally. You're the one who got his panties in a knot because I said I wasn't a huge Shero fan. You've done nothing but talk down to either of us, to the point I literally haven't bothered to give an opinion on the Flyers.

But go ahead, continue with the Richard measuring, I'm sure all the Penguins fans here are super impressed that you proved the Penguins had a better season (as if that was ever up for debate).

Well, then the salary chart on this site, one run by a Flyers homer and cap geek is wrong. It has him at 3.1 million. Maybe your boy should correct it.

Did Couts have a similar year? I don't remember seeing the second coming of Ron Francis having fourth line minutes as a rookie.

You'd have to figure Dupuis would be gone and you may look to trade Kunitz as well. You'd save some money get younger and maybe add another young guy for Kunitz. No clue if that makes us better but def younger

Yawn ... you two make it sound like injuries were the problem and your forwards. You make it sound like your defense didn't have a problem.

Give me an honest opinion and don't use the absence of Chris Pronger anywhere in the post. I would be interested. Don't hold anything back either.

You're literally blaming us for Eklund's poopty cap central? Laughable.

As for Couturier, goes to show how much you watched. He was literally a fourth line center both this and last season. There was a stretch when he was on the second line to start this season, but he struggled in an increased offensive role.

I wouldn't want to see Kunitz go. He has been that calming presence on which ever line he plays on. The nice thing is, over the next few years, we are going to have a ton of d-men on entry level contracts, so the money will be there for other players.

I haven't made anything sound like anything! Aside from my last post about how you literally know nothing about Couturier's fourth line experience, I haven't opined on the Flyers, let alone in detail. And frankly, with the way you're brow beating, I don't have much of a desire.

I'm not about ready to say Dupes is gone. I wouldn't be shocked to see Kunitz dealt though. He is a UFA after next year. Then again, we don't have anyone in the system to fill his shoes and you aren't going to get a huge return for him, like a stud youngster on an ELC
