Jonas Hiller?
- Oneonta Penguin

That's a good suggestion, however he is just ONE year younger than Miller.

I would still go with Ryan, he is consistently healthy and plays full seasons and usually does it well on a poor defensive team. You could get 5 solid years of starts out of him which in my mind is good for a goalie generation on a team.

I would go in this order:

Miller
Luongo(as a free agent)
Hiller
Smith

I wouldn't even want to explore Smith... I would try Fleury again over him

There are a few of us who are level headed. But there are posters who can be manic about the team.

I respect most of the posters around here that are on the other side of the coaching argument. Just because a "few" of you don't agree, doesn't mean you're any more level headed than those of us that want to see a new direction.

There's many respectable voices around Pittsburgh that agree with our side of the debate and we have a good bit of evidence to support our point of view.

Disco is a stubborn man. I want someone more shrewd and flexible. Hockey is about playing any style, not one to win.

I just want him to play the matchup lines game. that is such a huge strength for the penguins that is ignored.

So you think it may have been advantageous for Dan to do his best to keep Malkin away from Coturier in the debacle that was the Flyers series last year?

My preference would be to have a game plan against the trap. When an opponent consistently gives the Pens a hard time in the neutral zone, this team falls to pieces and becomes a turnover machine. I don't want to wait a couple of games for plan B.

no to miller. go younger.
- SuperHenderson13

Do you realize how young the core of this team is still? Crosby is 25 letang and malkin are 26 fleury is 28 Bennett, who will be getting quality minutes next year as a second year player, despres will be getting more minutes as a young guy. And the older guys like dupuis, Martin, Orpik, Kunitz, vokoun, are produce for the team. If what you are trying to day is build forward depth in the minors I agree with you there is a total lack of forward prospects in this organization.
Edit: sorry quoted the wrong thing I was replying to the statement where getting younger was a top priority. But I agree if the penguins go for a goalie it should be a younger one. I personally like bernier I see him as a legit starter for a franchise it stinks for him he's stuck behinds one of the top goalies in the league.

It's not just the coaching, some of the posters here are manic about every aspect of the Penguins.

I can understand the frustration towards Bylsma and I wouldn't have been shocked if he had been fired. The last few playoffs have been auspicious at best and perhaps a new voice would be beneficial. I can understand the issues people have him, I too question his unwillingness to line match or make adjustment or to be hard on a player when he needs it and some of his personal decisions are odd, but then again there is a reason he is an NHL coach and we coach from our couches.

The simple fact is that this team is constantly put into a position to succeed through the regular season. People like to say that Bylsma only won because of Therrians system, but at the time Therrians system had the Penguins in 10th place. Since Bylsma was given the reigns the team has not finished worse than second in their division. And I know that playoffs are a different beast, but sometimes the players have to be held accountable for their shortcomings too.

So..the Hawks are doing what the Pens had to do before: playing with speed and crashing the net(parking in there). They also got something we didn't get the whole series: bounces ..that 3rd goal off Ference's skate was something we didn't get. AT ALL.

Wow..Chi won. Rask let in 4 tonight. How couldn't us score at least 2 goals per game? Game over.

haha All I can say is that the pace is very fast. I do believe we are seeing the two teams that could beat the Ppens this year...maybe a third in LA?p

awesome game. we saw what the penguins needed to do but didn't do. hawks played their game and got rewarded for it.

this will be a heck of a series.

Saw Stalberg was HS tonight. penguins should look at him if he hits FA. His speed would be something.

imagine him and dupuis on the same line.

yes.

Bergeron should have not seen Crosby in games 1 and 2 either.

matching up is such a basic coaching strategy.... it's just remarkable that bylsma doesn't do it. when you have the best 2 players in the world on different lines, how could you not do it?

looking at this team. lets assume we keep cooke and dupuis for a second and let iginla, morrow, and kennedy walk and trade jokinen.

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Bennett-Malkin-Neal
FA speed-Sutter-FA speed
Cooke-FA big man-Adams

truthfully, I wouldn't mind bringing back jokinen to fill the void on the 3rd line. his speed and talent would be good for the third line. also wouldn't be against bringing back morrow for matt cooke money (1.8 million) and put him on the 4th line with cooke and adams (adams can play center, no?)

EDIT:
still love the idea of Letang to Montreal for Gallagher, Beaulieu, and their 1st. Gally and Beaulieu would be good young guys to add to the roster. remember that Beaulieu was Despres's long time d partner for St. Johns in the QMJHL.

Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis
Bennett-Malkin-Neal
Jokinen-Sutter-Gallagher
Cooke-Adams-Morrow

now that is good group of forwards. top 2 lines are filled with our talented guys. 3rd line is filled with our defensive center, crafty LWer, and a hard working, young, and talented RWer. Our 4th line is filled with toughness and grit.

make it happen Ray.

What do you guy think of picking up Danny Briere when he is bought out of Philly, extremely useful in the playoffs, injury prone I know... maybe on a one year deal
