Bylsma will coach next year, he got the team to ECF, but the big guns couldn't score, that's not on the coach, plus he made the decision to go with Vokoun which helped, and the defense played much better, its the players who just couldn't put the puck in, not the coach.....

Rask was sensentional, that's all.....
The Pens hit a lot of posts in games 1 & 2, why should Bylsma be on the hot seat? Shero did his best to bring in players," which helped " but Crosby, Malkin, Neal, Kunitz, Duper, Letang just could not score.....that's the fact.....

Refereeing has been totally different in the playoffs as well, no more free wheeling in the neutral zone, no more interference calls, no more calls for hooking into the hands. Its just like the Hawks, its a bit more difficult when you can't freewheel.

The NHL really needs to get their head out of the ass, either call the playoffs like the regular season or call the regular season like the playoffs. You don't see the NFL or NBA change the rules once the playoffs start.

Sadly, this is 100% true, and pathetic.
So much fun to watch hockey along the boards for the majority of the game.

I don't mind the grinding but it drives me nuts when the league does a 180 on how they call the game. Of course its been like the forever so I'm not sure why I expect it to change.

Why is every over estimating what it would cost to get Malkin? He has 1 Year left on his deal. No team is going to dish out two 1sts, 2 viable prospects, and a franchise goalie to have a player for 1 year that most likely is headed to the KHL. Now if it were worked out to be a sign and trade, possibly but that's still alot to give up for a player who doesn't show up to play on a daily basis.

Don't bother. It's pretty simple. He's better than both Fleury and Vokoun.
- buffalofan19

Better, but not in the elite company of Rask,Quick or Lundqvist anymore.

Rask is helped greatly by the team in front of him. I want to see him do this for multiple years before I put him into the "elite" category. Quick and Lundvist look to be correct, however. I put him in the Jimmy Howard category moreso than Quick and Lundqvist who both have carried their teams at times. Rask has yet to even have to do it.

Look at the package for Staal with 1 year left and only 1 team bidding for him. And that "franchise goalie" you speak of only has 1 year left as well. Either way Buffalo doesn't have what it would take to land Malkin. And anyone convinced he goes back to the KHL has a very short memory and is forgetting the crap he dealt with to leave. He saw what that league and its owners are really like and probably isn't in a hurry to go back.

Is he? Vokouns numbers were better all year. Except wins. Miller had 4 more in 20 more starts. And vokoun for his career has better numbers despite spending his career on an expansion nashville team and then Florida and Washington. Vokoun isn't really the problem. A true #1 defenseman is.

Interesting how this blog reads. So because they beat the mighty Penguins who have brutal D and goaltending, hand Rask the Conn Smythe and the Bruins have already won it all.

Not many thoughts around the Penguins perimeter attack and failing to get players to the net or make any adjustments. Was Rask screened once all series? He saw every shot.

Do you honestly think Voukon at this point in his career is better than Miller? Not sure you would find many to agree with you on that.

Exactly. The pens had plenty of shots. But they were all off the rush and high in the zone. No sustained pressure or patience. They got frustrated and started throwing everything on goal. Wrist shots from the top of the circle aren't really high percentage shots.

Malkin is not going to the KHL.

Pitt will lock him up long-term.

They're handling LA's just fine. And LA has a better and deeper D and superior goalie.

He has played better this year, for sure. He's 36 so he won't keep it up for too long.
That said, Miller would look good in the Burgh. Fleury would do well in Buffalo too.

You can't say that. Boston has a better core of d-men. Physical ones. Chara makes a whole lot of difference."Team D" you might be right: they are pretty even.

I just hope the Blackhawks don't fall into the same trap the Penguins did. Just play your own game, and don't get caught up in the ridiculous "we have to prove we're just as tough as the Bruins" BS. It played right into the Bruins had. Assuming the Blackhawks take care of business either tonight or Monday, and play their own game against Boston, they will win that series.

If we get there that is. And if we do, they'll get a taste of ours. D that jump into the rush and forwards that play in the paint.

I think Voukon is still a good goalie but if he was in Buffalo this year, the Sabes are picking #1.

I think the Hawks would win the series but I'd be a lot more confident if Crawford wouldn't let in a questionable goal every second game.

Look at both guys numbers the last 3 years. Vokoun 2 years ago with FLA 2.55 GAA and .922 sv%, Miller 2.59 and .916. Last year Vokoun in Washington 2.51 and .917, Miller 2.54 and .916. This year 2.45 and .919, miller 2.81 and .915. Vokoun did better on on 3 different teams none of which had exceptional D. I fail to see how Miller is a clear upgrade.

I think they will. They have the ability to flip the switch when they really need to. Detroit was a wake-up call, and a great test, and they passed with flying colors. Yes, there have been times during the Kings series that they struggled a little bit, but they're the defending championship team. They're going to throw punches. It's what championship teams do. Chicago is more than fine.
