Yup, Schneider and Varlamov—no difference... - Fosco
The comparison isn't that outlandish:
Similar size
both in their mid-20's
athletic playing styles
Differences:
Schneider played for an elite team w/ higher offensive support
Schneider actually had a goalie coach to help his game the past few years (way to go AVS! )
Varlamov has had a heavier workload under one of the league's most inconsistent defenses.
So--why would you overpay for Schneider when w/ the proper support, Varlamov could potentially put up similar #'s? You wouldn't--it's called a near-lateral (or unnecessary) move, and smart GMs tend not to make them. |

not quite
FLA would need MORE to give up the 2nd over all
add next years 1st now you're starting to talk. - zazzle
geezus VAN homers
Luongo (brutal salary dump) + Kesler (injury prone but still a pretty good player) +23rd overall for a franchise C, who will more than likely be having 100P seasons in the near future.
"nope. Too much. Luongo+2014 3rd for TBs 3rd straight up" |

they'll never put up similar numbers. Schneider could be winning vezinas pretty soon.
I do think Varlamov is a pretty good goalie, but he did play behind one of the weakest D cores in the league. Although it'l get better. Jones, barrie, Elliott on the way. I've never seen Siemens play so I don't know what they have in him, but his post draft stats are underwhelming. |

I could see Tampa moving their pick for a package including Luongo. They need goaltending badly. Would probably include a D as well. And a prospect.
Don't know VAN's prospect pool that well, so maybe some Canuck fans could suggest something... - jnwood2517
Lu. .907 last season on a great defensive team. Bishop had a .917 in TB on a sh*t defensive team. Lu is a salary dump. He has no value. No one'd trade a shot at Mackinnon/Drouin/Jones for a 34 year old overpaid goalie on the decline of his career

Should be noted Bishop played the first half of his year on a excellent Ottawa team. Although I agree, it's a brutal trade. TB needs defense followed by forwards, with Bishop, Lindback And Vasilevsky (19th last year) meaning they actually have MORE young goaltending possibilities than most other teams. |

Okay this is fun, how about
Hemsky + 7th for Upshall + 2nd.
You turn Upshall's undesirable contract into a more functional player and drop 5 spots. |

It would have to be Hemsky and a younger guy on your roster. |

I think we'd be in tough to give up a young roster player. I kind of considered A) Hemsky and B) taking Upshall off your hands as separate assets, so to add a roster player to that might outprice the oilers.
Too bad too, because Jones especially would be a great addition to the Oilers stable |

CAN C-Brendan Gaunce 6'3" right handed, thick two-way Power Forward, toughness, leadership intangibles OHL
DEN LW-Nicklas Jensen 6'3" sniper/speed OHL/SEL/AHL
USA C-Joseph LaBate 6'4" playmaker NCAA
USA C-Jordan Schroeder 5'8" right handed speedy playmaker NCAA/AHL
CAN D-Frankie Corrado 6'1" right handed smooth, two-way Defensman, offensive upside OHL/AHL
SWE G-Eddie Lack 6'5" SEL/AHL
These are guys that have shown good predigree, and I think could play in the NHL given an opportunity. Don't know who would have value in a deal. |

I suppose Horc has trade value too? I'm sure teams are lining up to give you guys picks to acquire your compliance buyout.....
You might get Upshall for him straight up. ie a lesser buyout from a team who wouldnt be able to sign hemskey and doesnt care about the cap space. |

Many reports say he has surprisingly high positive value.
You claim he has negative value.
I'd say it's low positive value. We'll have to amicably agree to disagree.
Now, why did you change allegiances from a habs fan to an isles fan? |
