My source tells me that someone just plugged a new Trade-database-members-only thingie and this be the hype that follows.
Saying that, no, I do not believe Kes is moving. Although, the Canucks pretty much played without him for the last 2 years and did not show themselves to be half bad.
Who takes over for Kes if traded? Kassian? Nope... Higgins -- PAH-Lease.... we have had so many Higgens-Pyatt-Bernier-Sandlak 2nd line hopefuls with no strength or toughness in front.... I do not think they can replace kes.
Is the league thought Kes was available, I think we would see major momentum out of Philly, Detroit and New York... not Florida.
Edler to Florida makes much more sense. Packaged with Booth?

Trying to get into the top 4 means NSH at 4, otherwise they would ahve said trying to get top 3 or top two or the first overall.
Secondly, this is where they try to offer Kesler who is exactly a NSH type player and anyone who follows VAN with even a passing glance has noticed all the talk of Kesler's time in Van coming to an end possibly.
It will take Edler as well I'd wager.
Van fans will think it will be for Luongo straight up as per hockeybuzz logic. - yaktalksback
edler and kesler for the fourth??!! is that a joke?
ur basically saying barkov for kesler and edler.
a selke winner and 30+ goal scorer and a true top 4 dman, both relatively young for a 4th overall is ridiculous.
u either wayyyy overvalue draft picks. or wayyy undervalue kesler and edler.

First off, not surprised Eklund starts with Vancouver, as anyone can see that the Canucks have zero cap space and 17 players returning next year. They have w-a-y too much money tied up in their defense, 11 people UFA/RFA and what appears to be half the team that is left over with NTC in their contract.
Unless one of their defense men waives their NTC, my guess is Schneider and pick. Trading Kessler is kind of redundant for the pick, as all 4 top picks are elite level capable tied up for 7 years as opposed to a player who is on the wrong side of his prime, owed 15 million over the next 3 years, and has been injured for most of the last 2 seasons. Don't see Louie either, that is one bad contract and not worth the first because of it. |

anything we would have to trade to get into the top 4, wouldn't be worth it unless by "re-tool" he meant "blow this sh*t up" |

This rumor is probably BS, however Canucks should be all over it... I wouldn't trade Edler and Kesler for an unproven player... Way too much, McKinnon may be worth it but nothing from #3 and down |

Top 4 sounds like Nashville because it seems they probably would have said top three if it was in the top three considering there is a "big three." If it is, I don't know if I would like the trade because Vancouver has almost no prospects of great value. It will probably be for a veteran player like Kesler. But hopefully that won't happen.
Although Tampa or Colorado would love to have Schneider... |

Maybe the Canucks are done with the Sedin twins? They don't do much in the playoffs, where it counts..Florida needs someone to get them into the playoffs..once they do they can unload the twins to someone else that wants to win the presidents trophy. |

Oh come on, stop including garbage in your proposal - Booth - yeah like Florida wants him back.
If you think the #2 pick is going to Van for anything less than Kesler, Edler & a 1st rounder, I think you're dillusional |

It will be Lu and 1st to TB because of next seasons alignment and TB needs to compete with the big boys, or Lu and 1st to Col because Roy wants a vet goalie..if TB, wont be surprised if Vinnie gets comp buyout |

History indicates its most likely Florida..
FLA = Luongo, Kesler and the 23rd overall pick
For
VAN = 2nd overall pick (MacKinnon) - OilerFanFromBC
This is the kind of logic and thinking that keeps the oilers at the top.......... of the draft that is.. lols, |

Kesler and Edler for the 4 is an overpayment. If that makes me a homer then I guess I am one, but that's ridiculous to me. - Nucker101
it's totally ridiculous... anyone who knows anything about hockey would know kesler + edler is much greater than any one position in the draft. none of those players are proven and will take 3/ 4 years to pay dividends. meanwhile both kesler and edler are allstar players in their prime. the maroons out there think the Canucks will lose their minds and overpay. but that's not Gillis' way. trades might not pan out, but at the time they are made Gillis gets value. |

You won't get into the top 2. Maybe a trade with Tampa or Nashville.
It would probably be Schneider, 23rd and Jensen or gaunce for 3 and bishop or lindback
A healthy Kesler and tanev for 4 and Ellis
You could probably add to either deals to even it out but that's who I see Tampa and Nashville wanting. Both teams are able to make the playoffs next year with the right additions in the offseason.
I think those are even in value BUT still goin to e tough to move up. |
