Never said radulov was a bust, I said all three of them aren't in the league anymore and that they were either flops OR (in radulov's case) a headache that wasn't worth the trouble of drafting high in the first round
- TheJerseyDevil1

Actually i think trying to get Radulov might not be a bad idea (not giving up much though). Maybe a prospect or/and a mid rd pick. Also I would love to get Burm from Winnipeg. Maybe we could throw them Zajac (Winnipeg boy himself) in a package. This way we can keep Lokti on the top two lines. Then hopefully move up enough to draft Lindholm and our roster is set.........

Radulov-----Lokti--------Kovy
Elias-----Lindholm------Burm
Matteau---Henri-----Zubrus
Carter----Gio------Bernier

**figuring Clarkson will bolt, JJ will probably be traded in a package to move up a few spots and Poni probably will be gone also

Does anyone know when or even if you can buy a ticket for the draft in Newark?
- Popcorn Kid

Not sure if you can buy one at all. Only available to season ticket holders at the moment I believe.

Josefson is stuck behind Zajac-Henrique and questionably Loktionov.

Urbom is stuck behind our six NHL defenseman signed, along with Lou's boneheadedness to want Zidlicky and Harrold both back next year. Plus Merrill and Gelinas are arguably going to be vying for a roster spot with him.

I'd rather add a game breaking LW forward, then keep guys who will have trouble cracking the roster at their respective positions.

Soo, 9th overall + urbom + josefson for... Vanek?

On paper, or in the tournament, this is a nice team. In the NHL playoffs, it screams vulnerable. Too many unproven, unseasoned kids on the top 3 lines. Can't sin like that. They'd get pummeled by the 4 teams left this year.

Vanek is always getting banged up. He reminds me so much of Havlat it sucks. They are both great players but struggle to stay in the lineup consistently.

EDIT:
Not saying he wouldn't succeed here, but is he the right fit for us and is the risk worth it? I'm not completely sold that he would be. I only say this cause we are looking to acquire someone to skate on a line with kovy. Could be great chemistry or could blow up in our face.

just what the devils need another Swedish meatball, hopefully linbolm will be gone by the time the devils are on the clock. if the devils take linbolm, it might be time to change the team colors to blue and yellow, since the team will look like the Swedish national team anyway.

hahaha. good ole Jones, he never disappoints. That whole NBCS crew is a cast of characters. I'll never forget when Chicago won the Cup.. Roenick literally almost crying, going on about the Hawks win.... and Milbury decides to piggyback off of that and pretty much drives Jeremy to tears. too funny.

What do you have against Swedes? That is perhaps the weirdest hockey prejudice I've seen. The Red Wings have had some good years being heavy on the Swedes.

take a look at the devils team. they have become a soft team, too many European players who think they are still playing on a 100 foot wide rink. devils teams of the past were built on physical play, none of the Swedish elite league players on the devils roster fit that need. time to start looking at north American young prospects with a little bit of nasty in there game.

You can call our European players like Volchenkov and Tallinder a lot of bad things, but no one's ever called Volchenkov soft. Same with our forwards like Kovy and Zubrus, they are physical when they need to be. Europeans aren't all danglers.

I think we'll be fine. Merrill and Gelinas will provide some North American tenacity and drive. I hope Henrique has a bounce-back year. Matteau is a hard-nosed player too. Carter-Gionta-Bernier bring a great balance of aggression and control. I hope the kids develop quick on D.. we're VERY soft on D. Salvador is aging, doesn't throw the big hits much. Volchenkov half the time can't skate fast enough to position himself for a solid hit. Greene, Fayne, Larsson, Tallinder aren't physical.. and Zidlicky just takes penalties. Merrill, Gelinas and Urbom aren't a pre- eye injury White, or Stevens, ..but they're all well rounded dmen, I hope similar to the Seabrook mould.

Agree, wish we'd close the chapter on this D group. I still have a hard time believing that Lou wants Zidlicky back when we have all of this youth waiting in the wings. Urbom has paid his dues for three years in Albany, it is his time. I really like his strong style of play and his size. Merrill could contend for a spot on the NHL team, and Gelinas is eager too.

With Severson a year or two away, I don't know what we are going to do with all of these old bums like Salvador and Volchenkov who have years left on their deals. Volchenkov has to be amnestied within a year from now, Zid can't be brought back, and Salvador might have to be buried in the minors or sit as a 7th Dman for the last year of his deal.

The way I want the D to look:

2013-14
Greene-Larsson
Tallinder-Fayne
Urbom-Salvador

2014-15
Greene-Larsson
Merrill-Urbom
Tallinder-Fayne
