It just seems like the Flyers thing to do.

Honestly, I wouldn't put anything past them. Or any scenario off the table. Who knows what they might do.

Rumors mostly but I know the Habs were the biggest of the rumored. I think the Pens and Blues were rumored at one point as well.

He's not someone I would actively shop but if the price was right. For example the Habs own Calgary's 2nd rounder(36th overall). That and a later pick would have me interested.

Sounds like a trade just to make a trade. Talbot plays a big role on the team. Don't really see a point in trading him for picks.

Yeah, like I said, it doesnt make a whole bunch of sense from the Flyers standpoint but if someone overpays you take the overpayment.

The most interesting player is going to be Matt Read. He's on the last year of his deal and can play multiple positions. I would think the Flyers would add him in any trade b/c of his skills at such a low hit. Probably the best bang on the buck this upcoming year.

Yup, nothing can EVER be ruled out with the Flyers. As usual my hope is to just stay at #11 or see if you can move back with Columbus or Calgary in snagging an additional first out of the move.

Because his value is so positively effected by his cap hit, I'd think if he's traded it's sooner rather than later.

Great piece to have. Hard to find a player with his skills with that cap hit.

He's due for a nice raise. One year at a low caphit is nice but being slated to be a ufa takes away a lot of value for a player.

If we shopped him prior to the lockout I think the offers would have been significantly higher than anything we will see now. That is unless we do a sign and trade.

Which is why, If I am Homer you would have to blow me away with a deal. Read gives you top 6 production at a bottom six price.

I would agree with you but he is going to get paid and the Flyers will have others to lock up. He might be the player that goes.

I totally agree. He would be the player to move at this point. He is going to get a significant raise after this year. The Flyers will have others to take care of such as Giroux, Schenn, and Couturier. No knock on Read but the Flyers will probably have all three rated higher on their list to get a deal done first.

Maybe. Could be one of the guys already signed that is moved. If Read can be re-signed for less than Simmonds or Hartnell, maybe they keep him, because of his versatility.

I think it's the opposite. I think the Flyers would want to keep him out of any trades if possible.

That decision doesn't have to be made until later. I think the Flyers work towards re-signing him during the Season. Maybe even before then.

I don't see that as being a reason for trading him.

I think his value as it stands is a lot more limited than people realize. He has one year on the books. You aren't centering a deal around Read for one year for a top D man.

How about a Read signed to a future deal as part of a deal for a top D man?

I think his value is higher to keep, then it is in a trade.

Bingo. But that has to get done first.

I would rather keep him tho.

I don't know why it would be a problem. I hope the Flyers are leaning towards keeping Read, rather then trading him. However as always, if a deal presents itself that makes the team better. You make it.

Yup, as it stands though if I can get a top D man for Simmonds I trade Simmonds before Read. As much as I love Simmonds.

Absolutely. In a heartbeat, I would trade either player in the right deal. But with the Cap situation this upcoming Season. I think a player like Read has tremendous value to the Flyers in keeping him.

Read fills more roles. More versatile, very good PK guy, good speed.

Agreed.

Simmonds plays the crease on the PP and drops the gloves with anyone. Other than that he is quite replaceable in the grand scheme of things.
