Hahaha, Bryan Bickell would be a bum here. He looks good, with the Hawks, but big slugs like that usually sh!t themselves when they don the blue shirt. - MidnightMarauder
Gotta get a younger guy that can model his game after Clowe's. DZ to Dallas for the 10th overall pick and Ritchie. |

De Zotto and Moore redundant I like that word. That's what I was trying to say about McDonough, Staal and Girardi not to be jerky (before I was trying to be) dont you think the same argument could be made about these three? - Chris Erwin
To a certain extent but while I would like to see more offense from the blue line I believe that will come in the form of further improvement and usage of McDonagh (on the PP) and an acquisition of a player that doesn't require us to give up one of those three guys. The only way any of those three hit the bricks is by their choice or if we need to move someone for cap management purposes. I really don't mind having three All-Star caliber defensive defensemen on the roster. |

I would love if we signed Lundqvist if we don't win the Cup this year, but right now I am satisfied with Crawford and Emery - jambodelta99

I think you can take Hank's comments in two different ways.
Obviously, there is the business side, where he is basically saying he wants what he is worth, and as many here have already said, he has all of the leverage here. We have no young goalie waiting in the wings for a shot at the job.
I also feel he wants to know what the Rangers plan is moving forward. It has to be hard on the guy to have to think he has to be perfect every night. Rarely does our team give him an easy game, nor do they pick him up during a bad night when they happen.
Whether it is the system, or bringing in different players, we need to get him some breathing room, and put more pucks in the net. - Blueshirt44
I think he is frustrated. He was expecting progress and at best we had a sideways step. I'm sure that he'll be paying close attention to what they do in the offseason and how well they are playing next year. I have a feeling it will take at least a trip to the ECF to satisfy Hank's desire to win. We of course can make all of that moot by winning a Stanly Cup next year. No chance he moves on if we do. |

Love Step's attitude going forward
Stepan said, “I wanna be here for sure, I am a little biased, I think this is the greatest organization. I have been here since day 1 and they have treated me so nicely. I want to stay here and I want my career to end here.” |

I believe that the amnesty rule allowed any players to be bought out regardless of age, but injuries they are very specific:
Tim Panaccio ✔ @tpanotchCSN
those asking, Bill Daly confirmed you CANT use the compliance buyouts on players who have LTIR status, such as Chris Pronger. - jimbo83
My bad.
Confused having his full salary count against the cap hit while on the LTIR with an amnesty buyout. |

Still in Boston eating my crow. On Acela tonight back to NYC, hope to answer my Richards question tonight. As a reminder, each question will be covered individually unless I indicate I will do multiple ones in a blog to try and keep this in track and organized. |

this belief that you and a lot of others have that the Rangers will make a coaching change simply by the development or lack of development of one specific player is ridiculous
way too much obsession with Kreider.
I think a regular training camp will do him good, lots of talent, size and speed, we will see what happens - jimbo83
I never ever thought Torts job was tied to Kreiders development. More tied to too many flat starts, to many players underperforming, a atrocious pp over his entire tenure, the overall player management of over using certain players and burying others and most importantly him being a dbag. |

Which makes Henrik's comments that much more interesting. Stepan's comments are what almost all athletes say in some way or another. |

This is by far the most overrated reason for terminating Torts. I don't care if he is a "dbag" to the media to be honest. I don't care if the fans get the warm and fuzzies about Torts the person. As long as his players respect him and I see no reason to think they don't, then that's all I care about. He needs to be able to get the most out of his players and he maybe didn't do such a great job of that this year but he was darn good last year. |

Having watched the entirety of Hank's interview I think this is much ado about nothing. It did, to me, seem like he wasn't quite ready to answer that type of question and twice defaulted to "I'll talk to my agent and we'll see what happens." I think the other stuff was just fluff and filler for the media. |

Serious question for you. If you were given a solid package for Girardi, would you take it and what would that package have to include? |

It bothers me and he should be a ambassador of the game but that isn't the reason. You hear him say stuff about players like Hags and Krieder to name two prime examples. But more then that watch him on the bench after every penalty or mistake his facial expressions and body language are the worst. Can't be good for players moral and then they get benched to add injury to insult. |

Its simple, Torts gets a crack at next season, but by Mid November if things are not good he's likely gone. No extension should be a motivator for him, but all in all he's been a solid Coach here for the long haul. |

Honestly what is he supposed to look like when a player takes a stupid penalty? He is emotional and yes, sometimes I wish he would tone that down some but I don't think it beats down the players on the bench. They are adults and can be treated like men; not some little kids that need to always be reinforced with positives.
I also think he is positive with his players, both during games, at practices, etc. He isn't always Mr. Negative like he is perceived by the fans and media. I think because of his reputation the fans and media are looking for anything and everything that Torts does that they can criticize.
As for Kreider specifically, I think his comments were 100% intended to get the fans and media to drop the expectations on the kid. He had a nice playoff last year with five goals but the expectation among many of us fans, myself included to a degree, was that he was going to parlay last season's playoff success right into being a 30-goal scorer and that was not fair. He still had a lot of work to do to grow into being an NHL player and regular contributor on one of the top lines. |
