Personally, I would have no problem with them buying him out and rolling the dice on Mason and a free agent. Take the cap space from Briere and Bryz and try to strengthen other areas.

But, while I think Bryz has been great at time, inconsistent more often, and terrible on occasion, I attribute it as much to Laviolette's lack of defensive accountability as I do Bryz himself.

That being said, I think I would be happier if they DID buy him out, but if they don't, I hope they do something about the defensive play in front of him, so maybe he gets a fairer shake.

Then if he is still inconsistent, you buy him out after the season.

Sounds good to me.

No you have a game here.

Start nothing new. Simply target posters who bring up new ideas day after day, be an ass, and contribute nothing new.

Just bash ideas. Thats all. Only run to the "facts".

Frankly you have a right to discuss what you wish, when the day comes that it drives the majority off this board. I hope you enjoy it. There are many of us who would enjoy the board much more without having to sift through your BS day after day, trying to prove your Richard is bigger.

I ignore your posts because it ruins my experience. I'd appreciate if you ignore mine. Grow up.

I have to chime in here okay maybe have is an overstatement but anyway here goes, I think you're failing to realize that sometimes our biggest critics are our best friends.

You guys both bring an aspect to the board, he's a database of information which is really awesome for those of us likeyself who are too lazy to read through the CBA and such. You bring an element of humor that at times is a lol overboard but always has me laughing. Just try to coexist mkay? Peace on the streets?

ok, ill start a new topic.

shall the flyers re-sign Read or use him as bait to land a defenceman?

- sarmen25

I think using him as trade bait *reluctantly* is the best thing. Only because the flyers always seem able to fill the void up front but the blue line is where the front office has trouble.

Zero issue.

I came back on here ignoring every post, and every reply. I thought that would be a pretty (frank)ing clear sign.

I asked directly today for that same to be returned to me, because it ruins my experience. We will see if that is returned, or if little Richard syndrome reigns.

To also come on here day after day and have to sift through BS, "facts", when posters are simply trying to bring up new topics or start a little bit of light-hearted fun. Its a joke. Maybe instead of always bashing something, start a new topic? Or would that require some personality.

For me, Reads cap hit vs production makes him even MORE valuable to keep considering the cap is going down next season.

You trade him, you are most likely taking on a much larger cap hit in return and are opening up another hole at forward that needs to be filled. With cap money that is already being taken up by the guy you traded for.

I say you keep him at all costs unless the return is undeniable.

I think reluctance would be involved with trading any of the young players. But it probably has to be done. But I just see Read's level of play, and versatility, coupled with his low Cap hit, is a combination that would be tough to lose.

I think it was Ruff at the World Championships that was raving about Read.

He reminds me a little bit of Sharp, and even though he isn't the biggest guy or best in the corners, his speed and shot have made me a fan. Nice find. He was basically the best forward I think at the start of this season before his injury. Might have that wrong though.

Keep in mind I'm only trading him for a number one defenseman. Anything else is unacceptable.

Well, I think if a #1 defenseman is the return for a package involving Read, then it has to be strongly considered. But the Cap situation comes into play. Read's Cap hit is a tremendous part of his value to the Flyers for the upcoming Season.

The only thing that would give me pause is that you would be adding 5 or 6 million to your cap while opening up a hole at forward. The guy gives you top six production at a third liner salary.

But you would have to consider it, and most likely someone else would be going as well to mitigate the cap hit.

So what happens with the cap after next season? I had someone tell me that it goes back up 10 mil (making the resigning of our youth core easier), but now that's not true? The cap isn't always gonna sit at 65 mil, right?

That penalty shot?

I'm actually suprised thought the Hawks were done. Have some snarl and fight in them after all.

Bickell is a really solid player. I've been thinking for a little while now that Detriot could use Tatar.

It will eventually go up at some point. It's just a question of when. It might take a year or two.

I think you could mitigate the cap hit by making another move, like maybe meszaros to wherever for a draft pick.

That hardly gets called in the regular season. Unreal.

Hopefully the Wings win game 7. Which won't happen though because a) It's in Chitown and b) I want them to win

Isn't Read only under contract for one more year? I have a hard time seeing a big return unless he gets re-up'd in the meantime.

I really like Read. While I like the idea of keeping the brothers together I think B Schenn would be the one I'd be looking to move. Read has a few years on Brayden but I've seen enough of Read to know he is a guy that should be retained if at all possible.

We'll see what happens. I think it's going to be very fast paced, in terms of the Cup Finals ending. Buyout waivers, draft and trades. And then Free Agency. It's going to be a whirlwind.

I understand Schenn is still "supposed" to have the higher ceiling. (must keep in mind he is only 21). But I like Read's game better....so far. Yes I know he is older, but Read is a more consistent player in all three zones.......

The team has some decisions to make. But If I am GM, I start with using both my amnesties and working on keeping all the kids.

Read's impending Free Agent status is definitely a factor. I'd be okay with trading B Schenn for the right return. He probably has more trade value then Read. I think Read has more value in keeping him, then trading him. If that makes sense.

It'll be a tough decision no doubt.
