If Pulock was rated as a future franchise player, he wouldn't be a consideration at 11. As it is, he's a very good prospect, with a bright future.

Yes, they can augment the draft with free agency to get system depth. But for every Matt Read or Erik Gustafsson, there have been 5 or 6 Mike Testwuides, Blake Kessels or Shane Harpers, who do nothing but tie up contract slots.

Also, dropping to the 14-19 range still very likely lands them a very good prospect, comparable to Pulock.

If they come out of this draft with Josh Morrissey or Max Domi AND Jason Dickinson, Zach Fucale or Robert Hagg it's probably better than having Pulock and Bowey.

- Jsaquella

Well if this draft is even comparable to the 2003 draft as many scouts are saying it is, then there will be more than just 3 (jones, mackinnon, drouin) future all-stars coming out of the top 15. 10 all-star players came out of the top 15 in 2003, while only 6 came out of the bottom 15 of the 1st round. This isn't the 2003 draft, so I'd be hopeful if 5 to 7 can come out of the top 15 and 2 or 3 come out of the bottom 15. Those are numbers pulled out of my ass, but they aren't unrealistic if this draft is what it is being built up to be. I'd much rather be in the top 15 than the bottom 15. Plus, if we have at least 1 asset that needs to go (one of Mez or Coburn won't be playing here next year, if not both) than why put ourselves outside of the top 15? We have other assets that can get us 2nd rounders.

I'm pretty sure I've had a pizza in Vegas at the California Pizza Kitchen by that name.

Then again it was Vegas, I most likely remembered incorrectly.

we have a Maui Wowie pizza here that has on it
oven roasted chicken, hempler's ham, fresh jalapenos, pineapple, extra cheddar cheese

What are your thoughts on MAF playing again this year?

He'd be great at 11. But I refuse to lock in on one guy, because the draft rarely goes along with any of the mocks and it almost never goes in like with the rankings.

There's any number of guys that could be there at 11 that would be fantastic picks for the Flyers. Pulock is certainly one of them.

- Jsaquella

I wonder how much better the hit rate would be if they went back to the 19 yr old draft...

Don't think he will unless Vokoun craps the bed, but honestly I would like to see him again. I think he'll come back better.

But who's to say? If Vokoun craps the bed and Bylsma turns to Fleury, and he craps the bed again, the Pens are done.

You didn't ask me but seems like the only way he sees anymore action is if Volkoun really poops the bed. Like 5 goals or more in a game.

I think Fleury will play again at some point this playoffs.
Not sure what the specific circumstance is that will lead to it, but I think he will get another shot.

From the last thread

It'd be easier for the league to get the gm's to agree on who to pick than rigging the lottery since the top 3-5 teams are pretty much guaranteed those top spots. Rather than rig a lottery which any number of people could blow the whistle on.
- JoeRussomanno

I'm more pissed that they kept the same lottery structure for the draft coming off the lost year. They should have had one ball per team.....NHL Is run by monkeys

It's not 2003... not even close... don't believe the hype.

There's really not that much separating the guy taken at 11th-overall and somebody taken 10 picks later. The fact that there is no consensus amongst the various rankings says as much.

Haha what if Bryz is bought out, and Mason forced into the starter position. Then he disappoints with all of the weight on his shoulders because he was rushed into a position of great responsibility. Then where are we?

at least Leighton has a resume of taking a team to the Finals.

at least Leighton doesnt boast his love to Stalin.

at least Leighton didnt have a cap hit of 5.67 for another 7 years.

That's a strong hyperbole. Anyways, I like how we've gotten our goaltenders. We've added a starter who is, when on his game, one of the better tendies in the league, plus one of the best up-and-coming goalies in the league, at the cost of nothing but a bad backup goalie and a 3rd rounder. At least we haven't had to give up all of our depth, or one of our star players in order to fix our goaltending. Praises to Homer for that, at least.

Bryzgalov had a hand in Anaheim winning their cup by coming in and playing great for them when Gigeure got hurt. As for the salary, leighton wouldn't get that because he never performed anywhere near the level through his career that bryzgalov has.

As for the politics, I don't really care but I'd rather he didn't feel as he did. However America is a free country and he's allowed to have an opinion... Kind of ironic he's so criticized for it.
