Maybe he would maybe he wouldn't. But I find I hilarious that Seabrook is a god and Phaneuf is a bum despite Phaneuf playing
better these playoffs in a much larger role as the Captain of a lesser team under incredible pressure.

- Blazed

I agree with everything except I don't know if there was more pressure on the leafs than the hawks

No you clearly never watch Seabrook play. You make your judgment on literally nothing.

12 minutes in ice time. Imagine of that was Phaneuf. They'd have him on the first bus out.

- Blazed

Are you retarded? And by retarded, I mean literally retarded. I'm fully aware Seabrook has not been playing well lately. But, I'm gonna judge them by their body of work over a longer period than 10 games.

Also if ya watch Chicago ever you'd know Seabrook doesn't even play with Keith on the top pairing anymore.

It's true but, should the Leafs continue to pay him $6.5M to fill that role, or are they better off recouping assets while they can get a premium? Perhaps the best route is to just let him walk in FA next season?

It's definitely not a question you can answer without knowing what they could get back from another team.

- Lipchitz

Let your best dman and captain walk as an FA and you think this is good plan? WOW

Dion is a good d-man. It's just a matter of what he wants to re-sign.
He has to come in at about 5 million per year. No more or you deal.

So who's better? Seabrook or Phaneuf?

Seabrook - 599 games - 56 goals - 190 assists - + 88 on a better team I believe

Phaneuf - 600 games - 106 goals - 234 assists - + 1 on the leafs/flames

Missing the point. Dion could be part of a contending team for sure, just not at those minutes and not at that money. So to keep him means risking wether or not he would be willing to shave both of those down. Too big a risk, so he must be moved. It's not that he sucks or that he made mistakes, that's the organizations fault. He was given too much responsibility and on a cup team would not be the number 1 d man but would merely be complimentary - as we have seen.

Not only that, he gets huge ice time when he shouldn't which gives him those totals. On a cup team he's a 2-3 and on the best teams in the League would get 2nd powerplay minutes.

10 games wasn't enough..so I thought you would want carreer stats.

Judge them by time on the bench???

Hard to judge 2 players on 2 totally different teams playing totally different minutes etc. I am also a Seabrook fan and believe he is a good defenceman..just not sure he would be heads and shoulders better than Phaneuf but I would hope he is better in his own end then Phaneuf ( not that it would be very difficult )

Boston - Chara/Phaneuf would be 1 - 2

Almost every team in the league Phaneuf would be 1 - 2 I believe.

I just don't like him being # 1 so yes #2 on any team in the league or pretty close, he's a good PP guy just not a big fan of the rest of his game.

There's no way Boston would risk him instead of Seids not a chance.

You just saw Dion as a top pair guy man, you just saw what he does. Accept it. The leafs haven't had a top d man in decades.

I meant more on the PP...you're right it would probably be Chara/Seidenberg 5 on 5 and if Chara was to get injured - it would be Phaneuf/Seids

yes, he's got an extra 100 points in 600 games. Except he's way better at, you know, defending. It's not even close, Seabrook is a FAR better defensive defenseman. Not even in the same ballpark.

If he is for offence like you say, then see ya later. Don't need his offence, the Leafs have lots of offensive d men, so why pay 6.8 for it to have a guy running around in his own end otherwise?

Nobody should take anything EA Sports has to say to heart. Especially when EA was voted the worst company in America two years in a row...
- Tsyolin

Totally. One of my good friend's brothers worked for them as part of the teams that built nhl 11 and skate 1+2. Said they were the worst company ever the year before the 2 consecutive public awards displaying how full of poop they are. EA is garbage and next time i buy any nhl, itll eb after the price has dropped and when the majority of my finances end up in game stops hands. /rant

No, he doesn't "bite". He's okay. Seabrook is very good.
