That's exactly what I meant with regards to the officers. They really didn't do him any favors by letting him go. One cannot learn from one's mistakes if they aren't perceived as mistakes.

Wow, Richards going to be bought out. That is some serious cash! They will be paying him a little over $1.7M for 14 years (2026-2027). For a total of roughly $24M to NOT play for them. Why they signed the guy to the original 9 yr, 6.66M contract is amazing!

I especially love how Kulemin and Lucic were drafted after Nodl in 2006.

Based on a good sample size, I'm not banking on the second round pick becoming anything. With a deep draft, I'm hopeful they find an NHL regular at # 11, but certainly that isn't a guarantee.

I'd be more worried about his eye injury if I was the Rangers, rather than the chance of him leaving in two years. He played one game against Washington and hasn't played since.

He kinda reminds me of bigger Brad Marchand... hes a quick, gritty, cocky SOB who has good offensive game to go with his physical game.

I got my RX-8 up to 128 once on a road which shall not be named. But I found if I truly wanted the rush of speed motorcycles were the way to go. You can be going 40 and feel like you're flying. I still have my license but no bike as my family would probably disown me if I rode that seriously. Somehow they think it's not safe....

From what I have seen of the Rangers, they just lack the same grit that they had last season.

You can tell that Torts probably doesn't have much input when it comes to player personnel. Losing Dubi and Prust really put a dent in their identity this season... they got some of it back w/ Dorsett (who's actually probably an upgrade over Prust in terms of a defensively responsible agitator), but overreaching for Nash put them where they are now. If it had been up to Torts, I'm sure he would have been happy just keeping the 2011-12 team intact -- they really had something there.

It's an age old lesson that the Flyers have failed to learn as well... you can go out and land big fish like Richards, Nash, Weber, (insert superstar name here), but it doesn't necessarily mean the team will be any better off for it. In fact, in many cases, the sacrifices that were made to make it happen will outweigh the benefits.

This is why I really hope the Flyers show some patience (it's not a bad word Homer!!), hold on to ALL their young forwards, sign a stopgap guy like Mark Streit and continue to build through the draft.

The problem was that the identity the Rangers had last year, wasn't good enough either. They needed to make a change in personell. Now what they probably need more then ever, is a change in how they play. More then anything, their top offensive talent has let them down. Richards and Nash need to produce more offense. Especially on the PP.

Much like Bryz in Phoenix, Nash also benefited from basically playing pressure free hockey in Columbus, I have to wonder if the pressure of playing in New York is getting to him on some level.

Id say top 5 could be perennial all-stars, 5-15 will all be top end players, 15-35 could all be impactful NHLers... obviously some will disappoint and some will surprise, but its a heck of a class..

At #11 the Flyers will no doubt get one hell of a player, whether its a forward OR a defenseman.

I don't think it will take that much unless you're moving to the top 20.

The one thing I like about this years draft and it's gone pretty much unsaid, is the amount of time, with the lockout, Holmgren had to spend looking at draft eligible kids. When that was his main job, tracking prospects, he was pretty damn good at it.
