Quick is as solid as it gets technically. His butterflly slide lateral movement is amazing to watch. He's crazy flexible and battles very hard. I wouldn't be shocked if the Kings win again and he's the reason for it.
- Hextall271

Quick definitely displays more of an athletic, scrambling kind of game, although I'd hesitate to label him a flopper (like Cechmanek, Hasek). He does spend a lot more time on his stomach than guys who play a more 'textbook' style like Price and Hank, but he gets away with it because his D is so good at clearing the porch and avoiding 2nd-chance opps. Losing Mitchell and Greene probably had a hand in his mediocre reg. season numbers, and it's probably no coincidence that his game getting back on track coincided with the addition of Regehr.

Depends on the roster and caliber of opposition in any given game. Gustafsson was Sweden's #1 defenseman (at least in terms of ice time) before Edler's arrival and then after he got himself booted from the QFs and the rest of the tourney.

In the QFs against Canada, these were the lines Sweden was facing:

Ladd - Giroux - Stamkos
Read - E. Staal - Simmonds
Duchene - J. Staal - Eberle
Hall - O'Reilly - Skinner

Hamhuis - Robidas
Harrison - Subban
Campbell - L. Schenn
Dillon - Schultz

M. Smith

- bmeltzer[Dubnyk]

This was no All-Star Game -- the players were going all out. Gustafsson ended up playing 33:27 against that lineup, which is a better lineup talentwise than ANY he'd face in the NHL. Obviously, the other lineups he went up against were less fearsome on paper than this one. Also, the big rink game is played differently than the NHL style.

Even so, I think it's fair to say that Gustafsson's play in the final 10 games of NHL season -- similar ice time, too -- carried over to the Worlds.

can we get tallinder to play with him?

Kinda random but when I was watching the islanders pens series I was extremely impressed by Travis hamonic. He was physical and did a pretty good job on malkin in the series. He seems to have a high upside as a shutdown d type

i liked him a lot in that series

Right now, I'd say Quick has shown to be a better performer in the playoffs than Henrik although I'd take either on the Flyers.

i don't think he literally refers to himself that way, but the logo on the mask irks me. it's possible that there's some reference to tre kronor.

i agree that he's an excellent goalie. just not my personal pick as the best in the game right now.

- hammarby31

they're way into their tre kronor over there, i really don't think he's referring to himself as a king at all

Both Volchenkov and Tallinder have had a heck of a time staying healthy after they signed those ridiculous deals back in 2010... not to mention the Devils have a number of young D ready to push their way into the lineup, and a slew of empty roster spots to fill up front. It wouldn't surprise me to see them CBO one of their higher-paid dmen if they aren't able to move them. I definitely wouldn't want Tallinder at his current cap hit, but at 50% I'd be open to him being brought in to build on his chemistry w/ Gus.

Lou can always pay those CBO guys off with New Jersey Transit tickets and New Jersey Nets memorabilia.

Quick is also not afraid to come way out of net. King shoulder pads likes to sit back in net more.

Hank definitely plays deeper in his crease than anybody not named Felix Potvin.
