Was reported/speculated in a Van newspaper yesterday. Not a bad idea actually; even cap hit??

I'd prefer Edler out east, maybe NYI for ???

I like Edler a lot but I don't think he's what the Isles need. I don't see the Isles doing much on the trade market this offseason with Nelson, Strome, Neiderreiter, Donovan and Dehaan all looking for a spot on the roster in camp. Our main area of weakness at the moment is in goal, can't hand the team over to Kevin Poulin full time. He'll backup this year and get more starts, but they need someone to come in and solidify that position for them and not a one year signing like Nabby again.

Pretty torn between the idea of moving the 9th overall + others for Ryan here. Almost certain Shinkaruk will pan out to be the speedy goal scorer they really need within the next year or two, and we will have the added benefit of developing him within our own system. However Ryan is ready to play now, and we know he can.

At the end of the day, I would be thrilled to see either of them put on the number 9 in NJ. Just for the love of God, Lou, don't (frank) this up somehow by drafting a Dman or trading down for depth picks.

this is what i'm seeing. Reading Ducks blog.. they don't seem passionate about keeping Ryan. Said he was slow and lacked aggressiveness.
also saw this bit-

the Alex Rodriguez award.
Here's a few nominees:

1) Corey Perry – 0 goals, 2 assists
2) Rick Nash – 0 goals, 1 assist
3) Jaromir Jagr – 0 goals, 3 assists -3
4) Jonathan Toews – 0 goals, 2 assists
5) Zach Parise – 1 goal, 0 assists -7
6) Chris Stewart – 0 goals, 1 assist
7) Nazim Kadri – 0 goals, 2 assists
8) The Vancouver Canucks

Brad Richards and Rick Nash. Combined 2 Pts. 14.5 Million dollars well spent.

He still showed up more than Perry did.

I could see the Ducks going after Zajac or Henrique. Trying for the 1st rounder and if thats not an option then Merrill and another prospect.

add Ovechkin to this list. a whole lot of hitting, not a whole lot of production.

If we have to give up the first rounder plus players, I want no part of Ryan. Too inconsistent.

The only way I would advocate trading the first is if we get a stud young goalie who can anchor us for years.

The deals suggested by the Devils fans hold no merit... Anaheim wouldn't consider a single one of them... There were a couple suggestions that said the Islanders or Vancouver.... these seem more possible though unlikely... Its obvious that Bobby doesn't want to be in Anaheim, but I see him playing out his contract or being traded the year his contract expires. Finally... for the devils fans who don't know the state they live in... Trenton is like the NJ Mason-Dixon Line... Cherry Hill is SoJo. If hes coming home he's going to Philadelphia... Not that it'll make a difference for them... but I see him stopping in Philly before his career ends. Homer has been in on him since he was young....and once more Ryan knows it...

I don't think geography has as much to do with Ryan not coming to NJ as much as NJ not having the assets to acquire him. NJ has no 1st next season, keep that in mind. They have a ton of defensive "prospects" but no one with any serious value right now. But then again, I suppose the truth of the matter is that value in in the eyes of the beholder/GM.
