So do I. But I am also not sure it was a distinct kicking motion. The icings irk me more than that call. But nothing irks me more than who was on the ice for the tying goal.
- hscesq

I'm kind of in the same boat. There is definitely a distinct kicking motion after the puck had deflected off the skate. Whether the motion started before that is much harder to say, and I think that's why the refs upheld the call.

In terms of the icings, I thought (contrary to everyone else it seems) that the first icing on Gonchar was far more suspect. He took the loopiest possible route to the puck. I couldn't believe THAT wasn't called icing. Karlsson more or less went in a straight line on his touch up - whether he could've skated faster is debatable, given the injury, that late in the game, his TOI this series, etc. I can see both sides there.

Jeff Halpern has to be out there for the last shift of the game. No matter what. With Tomas Plekanec.

Incidentally, those were by far, by far, the two best players in the game for either team.

Hard to blame Price for yesterday's loss...some still do though.

Curious to know why you didn't ask that question to MT after game?

I think if it weren't debatable, there wouldn't be a debate. It's not clear cut enough to reverse a call, which is precisely what I'm arguing.
- EricEngels

That's fair.

My point was simply that if they called it back on the ice, I still think there was enough video evidence to overrule it and call it a goal.

There is no kick, he used his skate to deflect it, but there is no kick.

I'm not blaming Price for Yesterday, I'm just saying he looked shaky more often than not.
I said ealier the top 6 (Plek, Gio, Pax, Ryder, Bourque...) is to blame. You cannot win with 2 goals per game with Price in net.

Easy to take that position when they DID call it a goal.

Well, Prust happened to make it out there, why?, when he's hurt I'm not sure.

Why the heck Bourque did not change is beyond me, he had plenty of time to as he chased the puck back into the OTT zone after the final draw.

Unless Budaj is the second coming of Halak 2010 (and I wouldn't bet more than the cost of a hot dog on that--even then, just for kicks), this series is over. Habs might rally tomorrow night but I don't see them winning three in a row.

As for those who say the Habs have dominated but find themselves on the wrong end of the series at 1-3 and lament "bad calls" and such--recall 2010. The Capitals dominated 5, if not 6, of the 7 games--certainly the final three games, and still didn't win. If the Habs "deserve" to be up 3-1 in this series, then the Caps deserved to win in 2010. "Deserve" has nothing to do with it. Bad calls happen against all teams. Ask the Nordiques about the Alain Cote goal. Ask the Flyers about Nystrom's winning (and hugely offside) goal in 1980.

Anderson has been outstanding, the Senators have capitalized on more of their scoring chances than the Habs and a few too many Habs haven't shown up for the playoffs (Desharnais, Ryder). Therrien has made some dubious in-game coaching decisions (none more so than shortening his bench and sitting on the lead in the third last night--where the hell was Galchenyuk in the second half of that period? ). Add the injuries to Eller, Gionta, Price, Prust and Emelin and, well…

Almost no one picked the Habs to make the playoffs. They did WAY better than expected. The team clearly needs to upgrade in size and grit, and that takes time. Or did anyone really believe the Habs are a completely different team this year? Some youth and grit has been added, but more grit and size are needed. In 2 more seasons, I expect the Habs to become the kind of team with legitimate Cup aspirations. They're not there yet.

Look what we are discussing. These are things that Pee Wee teams work on and get down by the end of the season. It's sickening that these issues played a part in the loss.
