The problem here is the forward motion of his left foot during his attempt to stop.
- 3M

he changes the angle of his front foot, he is still on the back edge of both of his skates.

It's not a kick

That'd be like a ref breaking down _nay_'s chewing motion.

Well, this explains why snow is only produced by one of his skates.

So I'm searching for an old friend of mine named Michel Therrien (not kidding). Looked on Facebook, Google, LinkIn, Canada 411...
Even called every M Therrien in Repentigny where he comes from.
When I asked to talk to Michel Therrien, 2 persons out of 3 hung up on me telling me to go to hell.

More weight on the back leg

Come on man, there is no doubt he intended to deflect the puck with his skate but he didn't kick it.

As every Leafs and Nordiques (RIP) fans will tell you, Kerry Fraser was a great ref, lots of experience at the NHL level.

His opinion > yours

and Stéphane Auger agrees with Fraser....so that's 2 former NHL refs who disagree with you.

- Symba007

an opinion is just an opinion, one thing he does have over 'our' opinion is full knowledge of the NHL rulebook....and when to enforce it, based on the experience of actually doing it

I see it differently. Doesn't change that they counted it as a goal, but doesn't mean I have to agree with it either.

Pecafan said it best. This rule is stupid anyway. Allow all goals scored with skates or high sticks. End of story.

One is a biased french ref, and the other doesn't want to get death threats from the 2nd largest fanbase aswell as the first

- Oilhab

He also said Gryba's hit was clean.
But...he was stupid then.

Agreed. Let the players be sliced up and konked on the head, game in and game out without any rules.

Or if they want to keep it arbitrary they can allow/disallow the goals based on the corporate brand of the skates/sticks.

Then, instead of ignoring all the rules, Tim Peel can create his own!!

what they should do is change to rule so that only the habs can do it but nobody else.

they should also change the rules that when bozak has to take a faceoff the other player isn't allowed to use a stick.

then they should change the rule so that the Bruins can trip anyone and get a powerplay for diving.

You think dmen are gonna start shooting 8 feet in the air on purpose? If the forwards are good enough to deflect it, good for them, and good goal!
No more waste of time, no more debates, more goals (what they're looking for anyway).
