i think it's gas in the tank that's empty. perfect example last night. they played up tempo for 2 periods but couldn't sustain it for 3. this team is just not built for a long run whether it be an 82 game shedule or the playoffs. - rob121
Both teams are pretty even in terms of skills imho. 2 teams that can't dominate another team for 3 periods.
Actually, very few NHL teams can do that, if any. |

the reason they have the no kicking rule is because they don't want people going in there swinging their feet wildly to try kick the puck
And if they allowed kicking, that would become more common
grey areas suck - Oilhab
Yes. That's why maybe they could bring back the "no players in the crease" rule. |

Are we supposed to feel reassured? |

I didn't mind that rule. Changing it to the "no harm, no foul" interpretation we have now to avoid the "his toenail was in the crease" disallowed goal has morphed into 2-3 guys crowding the blue paint/interfering with the goalie accidentally-on-purpose, which wasn't really the intent at the time. |

There were problems with that. But the cameras are not what they used to be when that rule was still in place. |

As a sens fan, I agree that the icing calls were two of the worst calls I've ever seen.
You could see Karlsson trying his hardest not to smile, ear to ear, after that one. CBC caught a close up him holding back the smile. He still let out a little grin. He knew exactly what he did there.
As for the goal, that was a goal, regardless of how the refs called it. If you watch it in slow motion, the 'kicking motion' happened after the puck left Zibby's foot. He 'directed' it in (ie he changed the direction of his skate - which is legal) and it looked like he went for a slight kick, but that only happened after the puck hit his skate.

I think you hit the nail on head only you didn't realize it. The kicking motion happened after the puck left his foot( basically a follow thru of a kick) If he didn't intend to kick it then there would be no follow thru

the problem with this stupid rule, is the motion after the puck goes in can also be from stopping..puck hits his stick down to his skate and in..
anyways its such a confusing rule...i thought it was an OK goal, but seeing it live at the game i thought for sure it was going to be ruled no goal cuz it looked like a kick...i had to look at it a bunch of times today to see it probably was a good goal by the convoluted rules |

hey, at least it didn't take the Habs 6 years and 6 top 5 picks to get back in the playoff picture. |

 (frank)ing MAF
id do that trade in heartbeat. you hab fans are so ridiculos. that (frank)ing goalie carried you to all those points early in year and now you jump on him. just like montreal always did. just like they did with roy and see what happen. roy happy go to another team and win 2 cups. i hope you do the same with price. your defense is at a ahl level or even echl besides subban. and you blame goalie.
