Ohhhhhh second and you all may hate me but if we are going youth movement, its not a terrible hire.
Though there are more notable coaches out there available, Rolston will help develop our young talent and then he can leave |

As much as I hate to agree with Jeremy White on this, he's right. It's about talent on the roster. The real problem isn't that Ron Rolston is the coach. It's that Kevin Porter is the #2 center. The top 6 is all kinds of awful. |

Patrick Roy wouldn't make a difference. In fact, he could very well be worse. The Avs can have him.
All that being said, you could go into a time machine and bring back Scotty Bowman from 25 years ago, and it still wouldn't make much of a difference with this roster. |

GARTH: Rolston Hired - garth
uninspired and predictable. in other words, no surprise.
same coach for 16 years and no search in regards to replacing him. glad I got a refund and took myself off the waiting list last year. I couldn't imagine paying to watch this crap |

Rolston is not the problem with this team, not a fan of the hiring but don't hate it either. The players on this team are just plain BAD, we will be here once again the same time next year saying the same thing. A new GM is needed with a new voice and vision. Maybe a full year under Rolston will make a difference with some players. |

Everyone here that's jumping ship, you'll be back.
Is this the sexy hire? God, no.
Does Rolston have the personality of a dishrag, at least with the media? Hell, yes.
Would re-treads Marc Crawford, Mike Keenan ot the (probably) soon-to-be-fired Alain Vigneault make a difference? No, because it all has to do with heart and talent on this roster.
Rolston is the right hire for this particular dark time in Sabres history. But just like every other dark time in Sabres history, there will be great times ahead. Will Rolston be a part of those great times? Maybe. But, if he's not, look at it this way:
The next time around, Darcy WILL BE shown the door, because there will be no more excuses, and Rolston will be an easy guy to fire, because he's not part of the good old boys club.
Give the guy a chance. And hopefully he's his own man, and he brings his own assistants in. |

Not shocked and not mad. As 89 said its the guys on the ice. And given the fact rolston seemed to have a disdain for several players at times, I expect we might see quite a roster turnover |

the only thing to be angry at about this hire is that it isnt fresh air.
other than that. he did okay with an AHL roster in the back half of the year and got myers playing a tad bit better.
hit on the draft pick and myers plays to 80% of his rookie season and its a playoff team regardless of who is the coach |

As far as I'm concerned, if they trade up to the 4th or 5th pick in the draft, all will be forgiven. Top 3 would be nice, but nobody is trading them. And the Sabres don't even have the assets on the roster to move up to get it anyway. |

Agreed. A lot of people here seem to think we're already legitimate playoff contenders again which I don't thing we're even close to, especially with the new divisions next year. We should be more concerned with the players than the coach to be honest. |
