It's funny, a few games into the season I asked my buddy who is the biggest Habs fan I know the Price question and all he could do was make flabbergasted noises and go "really" over and over. I had said at the time that I would take Anderson over Price and he thought I was insane. I've never heard Anderson called world class yet. - Sensir
The problem is that in Montreal it seems the goalie position (whoever is filling it) is the be-all/end-all.
It always comes down to the goalie, especially in recent years. Low scoring team, where the goalie's margin of error is very slim.
Price has always been good, not great, but a good goalie. I don't know what's going on lately, but he seems to have lost his edge.
When he won the Calder Cup back in 2007, he was stellar, and playoffs MVP. He was very agressive in the net. I don't know what's wrong, really.
The goalie position in this city is not easy, and takes balls of steal. Even Patrick Roy had his haters back in the day, and he had won 2 Stanley Cups for this city, so what chance does Price have, really?

Carey Price is like M-A Fleury. Very strong technically, average/poor mental strenght. I'm a fan of Price because he's a Hab, but I've always been a huge fan of freak goalies. Those who are either weird with public/press, or just plain crazy. Roy was a freak. Anderson and Lehner are freaks to me. Big fan of Kiprusoff.
Maybe Price is not 'freak' enough, maybe the NHL is just too strong, or maybe he still needs a few years to become consistent. Who knows.

Serious question: what has Carey Price achieved in the NHL that makes him "world class"? We hear it all the time.
Could it be that Canadian media is just scrambling for the next superstar goalie? There is no Brodeur walking through the door. Loungo had the same thing pinned on him with no accomplishments to show for it. I dunno, he's a good goalie no doubt, but world class? - Sensir
Thanks for the straight answers. I hadn't been thinking so much of the need for a new Roy in MTL. Makes sense. Hope he can sort out the pressure... Maybe next year though

Hey Pie, have I told you that I really dislike Phaneuf? He made a great attempt to block a shot, only instead of blocking it, he did nothing to it. Goal.

He was in great position to block the shot...then got scared.
