I know pretty much everyone is on the get rid of Kreider train but I am not getting on board. Sorry I won't give up on someone after just 40 total NHL games. - TPC
Im not on the 'give up on him' train, but if you can turn him into a proven player at an NHL level, its something to think about.
However, Kreider will not reach his potential under a coach like Tort's. He wants the kids to learn how to play his style without giving them the opportunity to screw up and learn from their mistakes. Furthermore, he doesnt play to players strengths. |

Me either. I say this all the time, when was the last player to have had 2 playoff years without having an actual real NHL training camp? Not an AHL one, not a 2 week one. A real full month NHL training camp. He hasn't. If after next season he is in the same boat then I'd look to trade him. Not yet tho.
Edit :here's a baseball analogy with Kreider . It's basically like putting you in the majors after college with no minor leauge games, hitting a couple of dingers in the ALDS and teams getting a book on you. |

If you want to see the youth and our home grown guys reach their potential...
Fire Torts and Sullivan.
Amnesty Richards
Get rid of Pyatt (Boyle I can deal with for 4th line duties, and PK faceoffs).
Hire Ken Gernander. |

Once again after only 40 games, I can't make that kind of statement either. After a full training camp and season under his belt if he is still struggling as badly, then yea you guys may be right. But it is far to early IMO. Maybe Torts is exactly what Kreider needs to get his shyt in gear. Learning the defensive game and how to grind a bit may help his career in the long run. One thing I loved about Kreider's game the last 2 weeks of the season, was all the hits he was throwing. Torts style is rubbing off on him a bit. All of our expectations for him were way to high after those 18 playoff games last year. |

I know if he goes somewhere else, he'll be a good player. Here he will rot away into a bust. Just the way it goes with our prospects. The Can't miss guys always miss and the sleepers always become franchise players. |

I actually set a relatively low bar for him.... he was hitting everything, but he couldnt get the other side of the game in check, which we saw in last years playoffs is very NHL ready.
Who knows, but I think were all in the same boat on one thing...
Torts leash has one year on it, its all or nothing next year for Torts. Go big or back your bags. |

I don't play hockey but I assume its tough to get in that rhythm offensively when you only see 3 shifts a period.
But really it doesn't matter now as we probably won't see him the rest of the playoffs. Just got to focus on winning tonight. Having Clowe back will be huge, hopefully his big arse can create some traffic on the powerplay |

As mentioned in the blog anybody who blames Lundquist is insane. I the two games he has shut out the caps in 5 out of 6 periods basically he had a bad one minute in the second period.
We need to score some goals
Win tonight defend home ice and its a series it's that simple
Lets go Rangers |

i think he gets another crack at it with this roster with a full training camp. i could see him being let go before the deadline though if the team still sucks.
what's larry robinson up to nowadays? |

Like Aecliptic said, he's out west. His kids and grand kids live out that way, doubt he would want to come back east. |

On wfan today Ron Dugauy said Kreider and some of the other younger players are afraid to make a mistake and are paying to much attention to defense and not just going out and playing offense.
For what that is worth.

Sold on that trade, without question. Like I said earlier, Skinner is more experienced and younger than Kreider and Murphy is a highly skilled right handed defenseman with a lot of offensive potential. Yea, Staal is a good player, but for the people that say Skinner is not a sufficient return, I say you are out of your mind.
Staal at his best is a really good #2; Skinner, at his best, is a really skilled top six forward.
I would love to see this happen. - MidnightMarauder
I agree. I heard about this rumour recently. Is there any substance behind it? I'd be shocked that Carolina would give up Skinner? Not knocking Staal it just seems Skinner ceiling is much higher? |
