I think what shocked me the most about this game was the fact that the Penguins really had nothing after Fleury gave up that "Ricky Special" to Okposo (by the way Pens fans, if you ever wondered what it was like to have Rick DiPietro on your team, that fourth Islander goal last night pretty much sums it up nicely for you....except in his case, it probably would have gone in off the back of his head, since he'd have been making snow angels on the ice by the time it got back to him). I thought for sure Nabokov was going to face the firing squad from he11 after that, and.....nothing.
I guess after being outscored 8-1, after four periods, and losing to them all year, our boys finally got pi*sed off, and it kind of shocked the Pittsburgh team a little bit- they were coasting up to that point. Anger is the best medicine to get rid of awe, and I'm glad they finally got tired of being pushed around.
Hopefully, we can keep that up on Sunday- as Nabokov said in the post game interview, every game will only get harder from here on out. The good news is that it looks like our boys finally remembered what they were doing up until the Winnipeg game that was bringing them success
. I'll take five more games of them playing like that, thanks- that's pretty much all I ask. As I've often said, actually winning is secondary; if they ALWAYS play like that, chances are they'll win most of the time.
