i think huberdeau gets it. and i dont think brodins numbers are sexy enough for him to get a nomination. not to say he hasnt been great all year, and looks like hes gonna be extrmely good long term. but his qualities are a little more intangible.

huberdeau
gallagher
yakupov

I love Gallagher but there's no way he wins the Calder, I think this year Yaks should get it, he has more goals than Huberdeau, same pts and is younger and more explosive. If Yaks didn't play on a line with plugs for most of the season, he'd be way ahead of the pack.

You say that now, but just wait until you experience some of the trolls Cloutier attracts....

this

those newmy and misterc trolls are seriously sad and fuked up people. they will say anything to attempt to get under peoples skin. i find it it funny, but it seems to annoy some people.
i still cant wrap my head around how lonely and pathetic they must be to get off on trying to dig at total strangers over the internet.

why do you say that?

while i think huberdeau gets it, gallagher has got to have a shot. he lead in goals, has been good at both ends and has been a spark plug for the habs all year.

i love the way yaks has played lately and i think his ceiling may be higher, but he struggled figuring out the pro game for long stretches in the middle of the season. gallagher has been good from start to finish imo.

i wouldnt be very surprised if he (gallag) won it. and i be completely shocked if he didnt at least get nominated

pathetic enough for me to consider give them a violent bloody punch against the head and also literally saw off every single one of their fingers so they can't type no more. problem is i just have to find them.

Don't you think consistency should be a factor? He got 5 goals and 6 points in the last 2 games of the season.

He went 4 games straight with no points... and he went 3 or more 3 times in the season.

He also only had 1 goal in 26 games straight.. and 0 goals in 16 straight games. Went a stretch of about 25 games with only 5 points.

Seems pretty inconsistent in my eyes..

Yaks has more goals and points and I bet the nominees are Huberdeau, Yaks and Brodin. Yaks may have struggled but how do you think Gallagher would have played with Belanger and Smyth or Horcoff and Jones?

hubi wins it. gallagher and brodin are the other nominees. conacher gets consideration as does yakupov but playing on a non playoff team and in the west hurts him. those other guys stand out because they're the young good kid on their team. on edmonton everyone is young so he doesn't stand out.

Who did he play the majority of the season with? Horcoff. Belanger

When paired with good players he lit it up.

Belanger, Horcoff and Smyth are offense killers. All forward momentum stops when they touch the puck.

oh yeah! my bad. i was remembering that gallagher took the lead on saturday afternoon, but yaks got the hatty in the evening and took the lead back!!

not sure how he (gallag) wouldve played with those guys. certainly tougher to put up numbers, but i think brendan is a little more comfortable playing without talent alongside him and still contributing in other areas.

i wont say i watched all their games, but i have some close friends who are hab fans and i watched a fair amount. gallagher was good in every game i watched i thought. and not just rookie decent, like a real sparkplug for them. if he wasnt scoring, he was digging, and getting under the opponents skin. a factor every game.

and i think yaks deserved those demotions or limited minutes for the most part. cant really use yaks linemates as a strike against brendan.
either way, its certainly close, but id take gallagher over brodin

regardless of who gets it, it's not really important. it's a nice accolade, but i only care about whos gonna be a great nhl'er going forward. and i think yaks has a very good shot at being a dominant player

Like I said, I love Gallagher and seen 80% of habs games this year and I think he's awesome but I just don't see him getting the Calder. I bet if Yaks played on a line with Hall all season, he would've finished top 15 or 20 in scoring. (Haters will hate me for that last line I bet) haha

The Oilers will likely be trading this pick or they will be taking a Canadian player. There's no way they will be taking another Russian. With the respect that they have show Yakupov, its highly unlikely they will bring another Russian to town to jeopardize that. Columbus and the Oilers could easily make a trade with Edmonton's 7th pick, Ales Hemsky and the Anaheim 2nd round pick going to Columbus for their three 1st round picks.

If Edm does trade that pick, it will be either A) to move up to a higher pick or B) get a great "now" player

Whitney, Belanger, Smithson, Peckham, one of Potter/Fistric, Hemsky, Jones will likely be gone.

Potentially Paajarvi, Harti & Smid if we get something major back.

- dedman11

Yeah, but that's six if you don't count Jones (since he's one that Cloutier said might be back). But it's not even six roster players anyway. All those guys never dress on the same night, and unless I'm mistaken, we're talking about 6-8 roster players.
I mean I'm not that bothered by it, because it didn't sound to me like Jones was coming back necessarily, but if Cloutier is right about the comments, then I'd be confused.

How does this trade improve the Oilers? This sounds like something that Clouts would suggest. If we move the 7th pick it should be for a quality player, that can fill a specific need on the team.

he said he would talk to smyth about his role next year though too. Could be a 13th forward or could just take some management job or something

I think so too. Hope so. I thought the comment about not being able to assess your own play was perhaps telling.
