If Oilers really believe in the guy they can get at number five and they don't as much believe in the guy they can get at number seven then I think it may be worth it to overpay a bit. Sometimes you gotta overpay to get what you want. If Barkov or Monahan (and maybe MacKinnon if available) can be Oilers LONG term solution at 2nd center then giving up a 2nd and an ok prospect is easily worth it even if it's only two spots, you most likely can't get any of those guys at number seven.

I didn't get the feeling from MacT that they think they need to upgrade 2C position. Actually he said Gags had the intangibles and leadersip and attitude that they want. He said they would rather have someone like that than a slight upgrade skill wise.

Horvat is much the same as Gags. Slightly bigger but not much.

The rankings on the players are all over the place. On has Horvat 10, another 28. One has Zadorov 7, another has him 22. Some have Gauthier 7 some in the 20's.

Its going to be a crap shoot as to where players go.

Horvat, for me, is like a better Lazar. I really don't think Gagner has the intangibles at all. His defensive game is really not very good and he's a little small.

EDM needs a guy like Horvat to play on the 2nd or 3rd line and play the tougher minutes that Gags can't.

He did what any sensible GM did: be as pleasant as he could while still hedging his bets and keeping his cards to his chest. He's more forthcoming than Tambelinni, but he's having a frigging reality-show confessional up there.

Whatever he said about Jones or Gagner doesn't ensure either will or won't be back. He said "Smyth will be back". He said, "Best of luck to Whitney". Those are your sure bets.
