Zadorov might seem like an off the board pick around 7, but some places have him as potentially turning in to a top pairing guy. Huge ???s but huge reward.

and I mean 6'5 230lbs huge

If your take on MacT's commentary is correct, then I'm a little confused. Bringing back guys like Jones and Smyth (even Gagner, although he's alright) conflicts with the idea of "at least 6-8 new players", doesn't it?
I'd certainly favor the new players over the Smyths, etc.

he said he would talk to smyth about his role next year though too. Could be a 13th forward or could just take some management job or something

He's probably not around laters, but if so, I'd love this guy on my Leafs

Kuznetsov is the best drafted prospect in hockey right now. And they got him at 26. That's incredible. Redraft he'd be top 10
- TheNugeIsHuge

He's turning 21 this month and will not play at least until next year after the KHL season is over. Probably not until Fall of 2014. Would you take Nichushkin knowing he would not play in Edmonton until he's 22?

The thing is that he can actually skate pretty damn well. Even if his offense doesn't develop he's still pretty well a lock to play in the NHL unless he gets seriously injured.

Whitney, Belanger, Smithson, Peckham, one of Potter/Fistric, Hemsky, Jones will likely be gone.

Potentially Paajarvi, Harti & Smid if we get something major back.

This team has a core and can't afford to wait any longer especially for some big goof from Russia

Kuz stayed in the KHL cause he wanted to play on the Olympic team and was likely guaranteed a spot by KHL officials if he stayed. Nichuskin likely won't have that same problem as his contract expires the year after the Olympics (with a buyout clause installed after next season).

I'm amazed that you had the flames picking Monahan. That's who i want the flames to pick but i thought you would pick some no name just to screw with flames fans.

I think Edmonton trades their pick for a top D man.

Potter is still signed for another year. Will most likely be back.

I agree MPS, Harti, Lander, Smid, could all be dealt. Smid does not fit with the description of Defense MacT was talking about.

Can't wait? You misunderstand the situation. If anything, him coming over later is a blessing if he pans out. Then we've got a top-6 winger on his ELC for three years even after Yakupov resigns his 2nd contract!

Would they entertain the thought of trying to move up in the draft to try and get Monahan? Make a deal with Carolina, they need d-men, and they could get Nurse or Ristolainin or possibly Zadorov at the number 7 spot.

Who would they have to give up to make a move like that? Gagner? Petry? Or is it even worth it?

The best part would be it would piss off the Flames!!!!

It will go this way;

Colorado - S. Jones

Florida - Mackinnon

Tamba Bay - Drouin

Nashville - Barkov

Carolina - Monahan

Calgary - ?

Edmonton - Trade Pick

Oilers will have to give the number 7th and probably one of the two Marincin/Gernat.

I guess we'll see. I'm not buying it. His stats this year in the KHL are not great.

They will trade it I believe, big question, do they try to move up, or will they move down?

Would you swap picks with Philly if you could get Braydon Coburn in return? Then draft Max Domi?

If it went down like that the flames would draft Lindholm.

Also i doubt Carolina would take Monahan over Lindholm. Lindholm also plays RW. Carolina has 2 young studs as center right now. One of them is signed for another 10 years.

Kuznetsov had 10P in 39GP(including playoffs) in his draft year. Nichushkin has 15P in 43GP(including playoffs).

Hard not to notice his size too. Heard some rankings have him as high as 3-4
