I would assume it would be considerably less for Zubrus (2.5-3). I don't think you'll get Clarkson or Horton for much less than 5.25 each

Agreed, but although Horton is Ideally what we need, he's more injury prone then hemsky at this point. Also in regards to Zubrus, I think last time he was ufa I considered him, not sure what if anything I've heard since then. What really are the key selling points, I rememeber ther was time we wanted victor kozlov two.

I caught that now he wasn't on my list of UFAs. I think he might be one of the guys lost in the see of buyouts. We might be able to score him for a GOOD if we gamble and sign in August. I am thinking 2 mill type thing. A lot of things depend on how many teams exercise their use of the compliance buyout.

Will be interesting to see. So many of the teams that would typically over pay to get those guys will be over the cap and wont be able to give out stupid contracts unless they get rid of some stupid contracts. I think Horton, Clarkson and Clowe end up signing short term deals hoping that other teams will be able to enter the bidding war in a couple years. I wouldn't give any of them 5 mill long term. But I'd give Horton or Clowe 5 mill for 2 years. Clarkson I would hesitate to give him even that much. Would be better spent than Hemsky.

If that is true, that might help us. We would only need them for a short term contract if we actually draft a good forward here. We get a 2 year on Clarkson and 10 mill. Then bring whoever we get here into the roster at that time, we are looking good. If that IS the case, then I would definitely try to trade for Carolina's pick in the draft. Make sure we get the player that we want. Try with next years 4th, then next years third, try colten or one of the other prospects we aren't going to use.

For Carolina, it is all gravy since they are getting their player anyways. I am just worried that we get 2 years down the road and Paajarvi is a stud. In which case Monahan is a more versatile player for us.

I got the exact opposite impression from MacT on Jones.

He wont be here next year, nor should he be. Should be fairly easy to get an upgrade for him. Also, I'm not convinced that Carolina doesnt take Nichushkin. If he, Barkov and Monahan are gone by pick 7 - oil should trade the pick.
