I agree they had more, won't go with far more

Personally I'd rather be interested in Mondays drawing hoping for a first overall pick.

i was running side by side with ya till this post... id love a first over all talent to add to this group.... But to see the team make the next step is much more for filling for the players & the fans. We have the talent in the system... within 2 years this team is coming into its own.

Poulin is a joke? You are so over the top. Poulin is a promising young goaltender who's untested in games like this. Doesn't mean he isn't capable of standing on his head if called upon for an emergency . Plenty of kids make their name in the playoffs at that position. Doesn't matter though, this is Nabbys team regardless of the backup
- keaner17

He has won a total of, how many, 6 games in the NHL?

He is not a "promising young goaltender". He's 23 years old. Why is it that the Islanders consider 23 year olds "prospects". The guy was drafted 5 years ago.

It could be a stepping stone for this group for sure. I just hope that if (when) they get shell shocked that they don't take that experience harder than being a lottery team.

penguins should win this series. this is something no one denies. but these pens fans coming on here and saying that this wont be a series is kidding themselves. in 2008, the penguins swept the Senators and it was still a series.

don't listen to these penguins fans coming here and trash talking. most of us understand reality and know that stuff happens.

if the penguins play their game, stay out of the box, and dominate the tempo plus get off to a 2-0 start at home, this series is over fast. that is the thing people forget about last playoffs. had the penguins even won one game at home in the first two, the penguins are walking into philly with a 3-2 lead. if they win both games at home, it's a 5 game series. penguins players and bylsma learned from their mistakes. we wont see that again. penguins got the worst matchup possible for their style that year and they got beat because they refused to adjust. that wont happen again.

just like to wish you gents luck. this series still reminds me of 2007 penguins/senators. penguins had a 46 point turnaround that year and the senators were one of the best. penguins got smacked but learned a lesson and rebounded and history tells the rest.

good luck and hoping for a good series.

I'm realistic. We haven't won a playoff series in 20 years. We are 5 years into this "rebuild" and we are playing a team that has been winning consistently without their top players. A team that has more depth throughout their lineup than any team I've seen in years.

The Islanders are a team that had a historic run in the month of April and barely squeaked in. We have very little depth, zero coaching, and almost no one on our team has any playoff experience.

After a 5 year "rebuild", getting into the playoffs only to be lucky if we win ONE GAME is not a "parade". And if you consider that a "parade" then you need to bring your expectations up a little bit.

- kencan98

Never said "parade" once, let alone twice as you suggest, but I am really baffled by your negativity. I'm not even comparing the past to the present, just merely suggesting you embrace something we haven't experienced for a few years and just enjoy the excitement and hope for the best...vs your constant pissing on the possibilities......ANYthing can happen, as history has shown, in the playoffs.

Or he could sit it out and they'll still sweep without him.

Malkin and Neal are in.

- kencan98

Just take them out in the first round and I'll be happy.

I didn't say he was a vet. But he certainly isn't a prospect like some around here classify him as. He's entering his prime playing years and by the looks of it he'll either be a career backup or a starter in the AHL at best.

Bruins/Leafs will be the best series to watch. I'll also pay attention to Wings/Ducks as well. I think the Wings will take that one.

it will be nuts. i'm hoping you get past them and we meet you guys in round 2. I love the city of Toronto and would love a reason other than business to come up and see a playoff game.

you guys are probably a tougher matchup for us than Boston is, so I might be rooting for them.

was hoping for a hawks/wings series but I also like LA/St. Louis and San Jose/Vancouver. In the East I think Boston/Toronto and Caps/Rangers have best series.

No one called him a prospect. Just young and promising. It's too early to know what he'll be. Most goalies don't hit their prime until 27-30. He needs to play more rather than rot on the bench.

I am disappointed in some fans throwing poop here. We should all be happy we had a season at all this year, and now playoffs! The fans of teams lucky enough to be in post season should be pumped. Best time of year,

I didn't even address D and coaching. Just trying to "compare" the first lines made me laugh. The "support" made me laugh even harder.

The two teams aren't even in the same category.

- kencan98

Yeah, that was pretty much a veteran team, with two lines of veteran players who could provide offense, and a solid NHL D. The only place where I think we have a better player than that team is in between the pipes- Healy was a career backup, before and after that run. Other than that, there is no comparison. Three years from now, if this roster will have Tavares, Moulson and whoever up front, the Nielsen line intact as its third line, with Strome, Nelson, Reinhart, Pedan, et al, on the team and playing well at the NHL level, it might be comparable.

Right now it's nowhere near that good, and I'm afraid it's about to learn a valuable lesson in not taking its foot off the gas. I'm thinking this is finally the year that Pittsburgh buries the ghost of Islanders past- IMO, if we win ONE game, I'd call that a step in the right direction. The good news is that this isn't a pile of Milbury's cr*p that is only going to EVER be good enough to win one game in the playoffs. It's only going to get better from here.

Pittsburgh is a f***ing machine right now. They'd have to totally sh*t the bed, even without Crosby, for the Isles to beat them this year. Three wins against sh*t teams would probably have left us fifth, which means the Isles wouldn't have seen you until round three, but our coach couldn't manage to motivate them to do that. They clinched a playoff berth, and took the next three nights off. They're about to learn why things like that aren't a good idea, like I said.
