Lets not forget COACHING

I didn't even address D and coaching. Just trying to "compare" the first lines made me laugh. The "support" made me laugh even harder.

The two teams aren't even in the same category.

Isles game Noon next sunday. LI Marathon closing parts of Meadowbrook pkwy until 10am, other roads near NVMC until as late as 2pm. Wow.

Plan to get there early

- 1since40

Maybe the Pens will get stuck in traffic, come late, and we'll have a chance.

And Paul Maclean REALLY needs to close his eyes a little. If anyone ever looked at me with their eyes that open I'd hit them. Twice.

So if Nabby takes a shot to the head, he's irrelevant?

If he chokes and lets up 6 or 7, he's irrelevant?

Why not ask some Pens fans how "irrelevant" their backup was against Philly last year? They didn't have one so they had to let Fleury choke and just take it.

- kencan98

If Nabby lets in 6 or 7 the game is lost already but guess who'll start the next game!
As for playing what if's on injuries, are we calculating odds on that? Because Nilsson was called up and could start as well.....The Isles will live by and die by Nabby, therefore Poulin is irrelevant

Realistic, taking Crosby out of the line up... isnt as detrimental as you would think.

If Nabby lets in 6 or 7, NABBY WILL START THE NEXT GAME. That's the point. And the reason is because Poulin is a joke.

If Fleury lets in 6 or 7, Vokoun will start the next game. Again, that's the point. And the reason is because Vokoun can win games.

And by the way, I'd be the happiest guy on this board if everything I said gets proven wrong and the Islanders take the series!

He made the better choice. And if you put your love for the team aside, you probably would have made the same decision.
- kencan98

Colorado looked to be a good young team... but if I was in his position, it would have been hard to leave JT, and Moulson.

They had great chemistry... before these guys, he didn't have much.

AHL kind of guy!!!

I don't hate PA... to be honest, don't really think about him.

I just think he made a mistake.

I really want to see if Strome can play big enough to jump on that line!!!

I said comparable in Terms of TALENT. That blueline was a lunchpail group. No doubt coaching is a kick in the ass. But the comment was never about which team was better but whether there was a giant difference in talent, to which i said they were 'comparable'.
That 1993 team was the ultimate group of overacheivers.

And maybe a guy who doesn't list the team he supports nor location and has only starting posting a few weeks ago can stop raining on the enthusiasm of Isles fans?!?!? Why can't you just enjoy the fact, if you're a fan, that the Islanders are unpredictably in the playoffs and hope for the best.....like the majority of the posters/fans?

I think we can beat this Pens team, I think its a long shot, but there is a shot.

Nabby will do his job, we need to slow the Pens down 5 on 5 because if we try to play with them we are dead in the water. We need to win this series with the PP & the PK. 2 things that were working MUCH better when the team was playing much worse... go figure.

Not comparable at all... 93 had far more talent

And there is no comparison in terms of talent. This team isn't even close to the 93 team.

It doesn't matter either way... if he plays, he will be very timid out there.

Broken jaw... is a horrible thing to have.

If somebody even brushes up against it... he's done.

I personally think he holds out the first couple games to see how they are doing.

If it is split after the first 2 games... he plays game 3!!!

I'm realistic. We haven't won a playoff series in 20 years. We are 5 years into this "rebuild" and we are playing a team that has been winning consistently without their top players. A team that has more depth throughout their lineup than any team I've seen in years.

The Islanders are a team that had a historic run in the month of April and barely squeaked in. We have very little depth, zero coaching, and almost no one on our team has any playoff experience.

After a 5 year "rebuild", getting into the playoffs only to be lucky if we win ONE GAME is not a "parade". And if you consider that a "parade" then you need to bring your expectations up a little bit.

will look forward to watching playoff hockey with the Isles but I'm a realist, this season is already a win for the Isles. Playing the Pens in the first round is the worst matchup they could have had. The Isles game is speed, and would have at least had that edge against Boston, but Pittsburgh is just as quick, doesn't turn the puck over and is far more offensively gifted. Plus, and this is a big one, they know how to win.

I am expecting a 4 game sweep, however I can still hope for an epic upset. This offseason we need to take the next step and push this team further along, so we can qualify for the playoffs in a better position.

I won't be talking trash to any Pens fans because their team is vastly superior, but we've taken the first important step in becoming a contender, making the playoffs and giving the young guys a taste. Hopefully this will keep them hungry and motivated next season.

I'd sit him the whole series. I'd actually sit him until they are down in a series by a game. They are a cup team without Crosby. They won't even get challenged with him.

He could also wear a cage, not really protects the jaw too much, but an option.
I look forward to this series bc I hate the Pens. Wishing the Isles do well.

Or he could sit it out and they'll still sweep without him.

Poulin is a joke? You are so over the top. Poulin is a promising young goaltender who's untested in games like this. Doesn't mean he isn't capable of standing on his head if called upon for an emergency . Plenty of kids make their name in the playoffs at that position. Doesn't matter though, this is Nabbys team regardless of the backup
