ahem......we narrowly made the playoffs and could be facing an easier opponent if not for crappy play the last two games. Only thing we get vs. Pitt is a fair number of power plays. However, if Crappy keeps Streit & Boyes on the 1st unit, we're screwed. They have been absolutely horrible on the PP as of late. Capppy's inferiority as a coach is about to be exposed on a national level. I'm happy/thrilled to have made the playoffs but we are in no way in a good position drawing the Pens. We need JT to elevate like its next year, only he needs to do it in the next week.

I was @ the Buffalo game... they should have played better.

Ecstatic we're in the playoffs. A little perturbed we (frank)ed up these 2 last game, tinkered with the lineup, and put ourselves in a position where we have to face the best team in the league immediately.

I was a lot more positive a week ago, but, still, if we play the way we played the last 5 week, sans this week, we can give them a series.

The brawl game was a long time ago and against a MUCH different team. 75, 82, 93...its all in the past. This Pens team is playing as if they are on a mission. Obviously upsets happen...but the Isles are simply overmatched against this group, and they are the worst defensive club to make the postseason (21st goals against) and that is a bad matchup against vs the highest scoring team in the league. Pens in 5.

Pens in 4... With or without Crosby.

By the way, this team isn't NEAR as good as the 1993 Penguins yet I don't see their names on the cup. Unquestionably, we are overwhelming underdogs but it happens year in and year out...the leagues most talented teams seem to fall to the hot hand.! If asked to pick the most likely Stanley Cup Champs, like you I'd say Pittsburgh, but I won't be the slightest bit surprised if they get bounced by someone, so maybe they should just play the games anyway.

Yes, the Isles were much better in the last portion of the season. And during the last 24 games, the Pens went 20-4, they met 3 Islanders times, with the Pens winning all 3....by a combined score of 12-3. I'm looking forward to a good series, and of course reading Dee's well informed blog.

As for the 1993 Isles, talentwise I'd say we're comparable. The 1993 Isles weren't supposed to go anywhere. Players played miles above their heads (Healey etc). That's what made that team so special.
