One opposing Eastern Conference coach marveled this season at Tavares' transformation as a skater. "He's like [Jaromir] Jagr now,'' the coach said. "He has that body control and the strength on his skates that no one's getting the puck from him.''

IDK if he has the kind of control that Jagr had in his younger years but I think he will. Still nice to hear people finally really starting to take notice of the kid.

You know what boys? Sure we are playing against Penguins. If it was two years ago, I would say good bye! but this year, they have showed alot of marbles and I happen to think that we got a chance. Losing isn't the answer. Victory is the answer. Tavares will lead us!

This series should be entertaining, but the Penguins depth and experience will shine through in the end. Expect all of the games to be tight, but i see the Pens winning in 5 or 6. This postseason will be huge just to get playoff experience for the kids on the Islanders. Reminds me of the Penguins 2007 playoff series against Ottawa. This series should also add fuel to what has already become a great rivalry.

He's so strong on the puck. I may not start throwing around Jagr's name but he has improved leaps and bounds since his rookie year. He used to fall every time he got touched his first year.

Now all he needs is that awesome Eastern European mullet and the transformation will be complete.

everyone on here knows this you jackass!!!! but after rooting for a team for 48 games and hoping they get into the playoffs, you have to be a complete (frank)ing bumhole to throw them down the poopter 3 days before the series starts...why cant you let the series play out. everything you are saying is so obvious, you just sound so bitter for no apparent reason.

penguins on paper and record-wise are better...thats no shock
penguins are the #1 seed, isles are #8...obviously the pens are heavy favorites.
penguins are heavily favored, now please shutup so those that arent miserable (frank)s like you can enjoy a playoff hockey series and not shew poop that everyone knows!!! its sports!! upsets happen!!!

- LetsGoIsles

I've actually been routing for this team since the 80's so it's a little longer than 48 games.

You are right though. Isles in 4. Shutout the entire series.

The only reason Marty is playing next year is because he's afraid Poulin uiewill break his records.

That's my prediction. Isles in 4. Strome is Gretzky. Nino, Lemieux. Cappy, Bowman. Yes! I feel the cup coming back to Nassau.

i cant imagine the "fear" of letting a 4th line player with 15 points in 67 games in his career would stop them from putting out the best team they have available... but then again, marty reasoner IS practicing.
- LetsGoIsles

But Nino and his 4 points in 55 games should play first line wing next season.

Makes sense.

I seriously doubt that Bylsma is losing sleep over who our 4th line center will be.
- PeteM

The only thing Bylsma is losing sleep over is how he's going to fill out his line up card. Players like Bennett and Jeffrey may have to end up watching from upstairs.

I hate when people bring up the 4 pts in 55 games for nino thing.

There are 2 things people always fail to point out.
1) Nino has loads of talent; he is big, has a hard wrist shot, and can play dirty
2) He played with reasoner (1 goal since being here) and jay pandolfo..

Now im not saying he deserves to be 1st line winger, but he at least deserves a look in preseason games.

Absolutely agree with you. That's why I said he could one day be that strong on his skates. Wouldn't surprise me one bit, the kid constantly improves his game.
