wow, dee...expecting the islanders to sweep them in 4 seems like a tall task but i love the enthusiasm

-nino being traded is always possible but it wont be bc he is playing for the world juniors. a draft day deal is pure speculation; no need to include that without any insider info...

Did she really say that? I hope not...
- potvin05

I think we should all know by now she does this on purpose to make our life hell on here with opposing teams fans. Aka Nash.

Well hopefully you can get Bettman to cancel the series before we embarrass ourselves
As for the 1993 Isles, talentwise I'd say we're comparable. The 1993 Isles weren't supposed to go anywhere. Players played miles above their heads (Healey etc). That's what made that team so special.

Funny how I also left out the Captain of the 93 Isles who played pretty well that year.

There's not even close to being a comparison between the two.

Healy/Fitz are better than Nabby/Poulin all day long.

The first lines shouldn't even be mentioned in the same conversation.

The support is not even in the same league.

There is no comparison.

Coach - Arbour/Cappy - No comparison.

If Nabby lets in 6 or 7, NABBY WILL START THE NEXT GAME. That's the point. And the reason is because Poulin is a joke.

If Fleury lets in 6 or 7, Vokoun will start the next game. Again, that's the point. And the reason is because Vokoun can win games.

And by the way, I'd be the happiest guy on this board if everything I said gets proven wrong and the Islanders take the series!

go (frank) yourself...no one wants to hear it; go preach to the penguins choir on their board.

I'm realistic. We haven't won a playoff series in 20 years. We are 5 years into this "rebuild" and we are playing a team that has been winning consistently without their top players. A team that has more depth throughout their lineup than any team I've seen in years.

The Islanders are a team that had a historic run in the month of April and barely squeaked in. We have very little depth, zero coaching, and almost no one on our team has any playoff experience.

After a 5 year "rebuild", getting into the playoffs only to be lucky if we win ONE GAME is not a "parade". And if you consider that a "parade" then you need to bring your expectations up a little bit.

- kencan98

everyone on here knows this you jackass!!!! but after rooting for a team for 48 games and hoping they get into the playoffs, you have to be a complete (frank)ing bumhole to throw them down the poopter 3 days before the series starts...why cant you let the series play out. everything you are saying is so obvious, you just sound so bitter for no apparent reason.

penguins on paper and record-wise are better...thats no shock
penguins are the #1 seed, isles are #8...obviously the pens are heavy favorites.
penguins are heavily favored, now please shutup so those that arent miserable (frank)s like you can enjoy a playoff hockey series and not shew poop that everyone knows!!! its sports!! upsets happen!!!

I don't like to attack anyone but he comes accross like some 14 year old kid trying to so desperately to prove to the world that he's smarter than everyone else. If I felt so negatively about this team and their chances, I'd probably stay away from messageboard forums.

The last time I posted on here was before the loss to the flyers. I didn't want to come on here and read about all the whining and female doging because they lost for the 1st time in regulation in almost a month. Now with them playing the Penguins between all the crying from Islander fans and all the Penguin trolls, I'll be enjoying this playoff series away from this site win or lose. I'm pumped for this series and I hope they shock the world but if they don't that's ok because this is just the first step on their way back to the top. Instead of whining and crying you guys should be embracing the challenge. Go Islanders!!!
- Vukota

Best post I've seen, hands down.

The sheer amount of whining I've heard from a TON of Isles fans about drawing the Pens in round 1 is sickening. That it "puts a damper" on the overall good season.
Quit your crying. This is what you WANT. The best. And you will then see how our troops respond to the best. My gut says that they will look across the ice and realize WHO they are playing and WHERE they are and RESPOND. Sort of like reactivating them to what they were before they clinched. And even IF they lose in a hard fought, tough, BATTLE(level) of a series, will you guys be upset with that? I won't.

This is just the beginning.

GO ISLES!!!!

I didn't say he was a vet. But he certainly isn't a prospect like some around here classify him as. He's entering his prime playing years and by the looks of it he'll either be a career backup or a starter in the AHL at best.
- kencan98

pap was in the ahl when he was 23 years old and yet you cant get enough of him... weird!!!

EDIT: he was consistently playing in the AHL till he was 28 years old... but im sure YOU already know what we have with poulin

makes me sick when someone (presumably) follows a team for the entire year and then throws them under the bus.

its amazing how we have to deal with trolls, coming in here and trashing the team we root for...whats even more amazing is that the trolls havent been come from the penguins, rangers or leafs

i believe, although im an idiot to even pretend to understand this guys logic, he originally loved pap...wanted him resigned...then we got lucky finding a replacement with boyes, now he wants to resign boyes because he doesnt believe well be able to "get lucky" again if we let boyes walk...

again, by no stretch of the imagination am i putting money on the islanders winning the series...no one in their right mind would bet on the isles in this series; obviously they are underdogs...hes just stating the obvious so to come here and throw poop around just seems unnecessary.

they are underdogs and because they are so heavile an underdog gives them the best chance to win since they have nothing to lose. I think it is going to be a great series to be honest. They know each other well, so the Islanders know what to expect. They need to survive the first 10 minutes of each games and not take many penalties. We should be a ok

Because he honestly believes none of us realize that we're major underdogs. On one post he wants Strome and Nino to spend another season @ the Bridge while Poulin is a joke because he wasn't the teams #1 goalie upon turning 23 two weeks ago....

My feeling is that ultra talented teams often struggle in the playoffs. It's not the same type of game as the regular season. Teams are going all out, clutching and grabbing, playing nasty, system hockey during the playoffs with a 'there's no tomorrow' attitude. Look at the laundry list of 1st overall seeds that got bounced in the first couple of rounds over the years.

Being the most talented team in the league and best record in the East does not mean their game will translate to four sweeps in the playoffs.

I expect us to lose but I can't discount the fact that we can play scappy hockey and push them back a bit.

Not saying I agree with him on this particular topic though we all know the odds on this one. With that said most of us have seen upsets that involved this team and other ones as well. You never know what could happen? There are so many different things that can happen and I'm sure we've been over them all in our minds? Worse cones to worse they get some experience and hopefully know and improve on what they need too for next year. Who knows? We may come out and shock the shat out of this team and catch them off guard? Stranger things have happened.

That's one of the keys for us I think, we have to play nasty. Go out there and dictate the physical play. This team has too realize by now we are successful when we do this. This should be capuanos game plan. Trying to play a finesse game would of course be stupid, solid defense and tight checking and staying out of the box of course should all be priorities. They do these things anything is possible. Unfortunately Capuano is going to have to be a coach here and get these guys ready.

i agree...and i believe if the isles make a series of this, colin mcdonald will have a HUGE role in it...hes physical, finishes his checks and if he can get on the nervous of someone like malkin, id be more than ok having them both sit for 2 minutes...

question is, does carkner play? if so, whose out?
