He's great at pointing out the poor quality of most of the Flyers beat writers.

He's less great at stopping pucks.

I wish Bryz would go all Lefty Carlton and stop talking to the press.

You know......So, we can all stop killing the messenger because our $6 million dollar goalie plays like a $2.5 million dollar goalie.

Bill, sometimes the best player available is a player of need. In my opinion, the flyer shouldn't draft another young Center, No matter what the circumstances are. I feel our D is hurting that much
- SuperSchennBros

If the flyers truly feel that way, they will weigh the defensmen heavier in the draft. And after they pick one, lo and behold they picked the best player available.

The only defenseman in the draft that is likely to be able to step right in and play is Jones, and that's not a sure bet.

They need to take the best player available. If it's a defenseman, great. If it's a center, fine. Picking this high, they can't pass up a better player to fill a "need", especially when the guy they're drafting likely won't be a NHLer for a year o two or even three.

The problem is, how many times will we see players on the team have feuds with the media? It's counter productive and becomes a distraction.

There are some good reporters that cover the team and try to stick to pucks. But the idiots really drag down the gene pool

That's kind of my point.

Bryz isn't a captain. He's not obliged by any unwritten rule to talk. The media seems to be a distraction for Bryz and he seems to get caught up to the detriment of his on-ice performance.

Bryz can't make them say nice things about him, but he can control when he talks and what he does on the ice. I'd prefer that he accept that rather than fight it.

They tried to limit access and the PPHWA complained.

In my opinion, there aren't very many available talented defenseman. In fact every team in the league is always looking out for one. If the flyers aren't lucky today in being handed the first overall pick, they should push to acquire it. Obviously much easier said then done but I would be more then happy to walk away from Matt Read or Scott Laughton and our own pick if it means getting Seth Jones. All my ideas could be unlikely but all Homer can do is try. I would be okay with settling for Darnell Nurse if unsuccessful

O noes! Not the PPHWA!

If the Flyers can't limit access, then it's up to Bryz to start coming to terms with "no comment" or "guys, I'm not talking".

The guy makes a comment about Lisa Hillary's blouse and it blows up twitter. When he talks, he obviously is incapable of doing the Crash Davis sort of "here to help the ball club" interview answer.

The narrative from media types about this saying that the athlete should speak to the media because the athlete owes the fans is a total myth, IMO. As long as the production is there on the field (or the ice), most fans don't and won't care.

Yep and it felt like they closed the door on the tiger's tail. Too little too late.
I do think that beginning next season that Bryz should not be allowed interviews from the start and let's see how he plays.

And what if Seth Jones turns out to be Aki Berg instead of Chris Pronger?

There's several very talented defensemen that will likely be on the board when the Flyers pick at 11 or 12. It's possible that Nurse could drop(not likely, but possible). It's all but certain they'd have a shot at at least one of Ryan Pulock, Ramus Ristolainen, Nikita Zadorov, Josh Morrissey or Robert Haag there.

If they move up, and Monahan or Barkov is there, they shouldn't reach to draft a defensemen, just because he's a defenseman. Take the best player in the top 10 or 15, regardless of position.

Shea Weber, PK Subban, Duncan Keith, Alexander Edler all were 2nd rounders or later.

I like when he talks, I dont see a correlation to his play on the ice. Like he said when he talked yesterday, the crap just doesnt bother him anymore.

If the interviews are why he's playing badly, I'd want him gone. The media stuff is an aggravation, but it's part of the turf. If that's why he's played poorly, then what happens in playoffs when he has to give time to media?

What is Russian for "Take'em one day at a time"?

Or "I'm just here to help the team and God willing, we'll win a few here and there."?

Heck, I'd even take having a translator do the talking. I can almost see it now: Bryz standing back with a big grin on his face, the beat not quite getting the entertainment they were looking for.

This is true, but you are not gonna get a Nick Lidstrom type in the second round.

I think the Flyers are in a prime position to draft Ryan Poluck. He seems to be rated right around where they'd be selecting (11th-12th) and is the type of d-man they'd covet. However I know the Flyers, and rightfully so, will follow BPA with their 1st pick.

Question for anyone with higher knowledge of the 1st round prospects....If for some reason Sean Monahan fell to them (doubtful), you think Flyers run to draft table to select him without thought or would they still go with Poluck? Have to admit, I'm in love with what Poluck brings to the table.

If they get a translator, it should be a woman.

And she should look like Brigitte Neilson, circa Rocky IV.....right down to the haircut.

Also....RE: The Draft.

Consider the possibility that, no matter where the Flyers are actually picked to draft tonight, that they won't try to trade up.

Im seeing Nurse move up a lot of lists lately. Central scouring has him ranked the second best dman.
