So how did JVR faking an injury so he wouldn't be traded work out for him?

And taking performance enhancing substances is a completely different situation then faking an injury.

- MJL

He got traded after the season. But at the time, the Flyers looked much more promising than TO. So I say it worked out pretty well for him.

I've been confused on the buyout clause for awhile now. My brother says only one buyout this year and one next year, I said teams can use both in one off-season. Who is right?

What's he gonna say?

"I let go of some players and missed some coveted guys, Panotch...this team sucks. I'm so mad at myself and this team is gonna flat out suck this year."

By the way, I'm happy with this team right now, for what it's worth (which is exactly zero but I don't care). Could we maybe try to improve it? Sure. And I wouldn't have a problem with it, as long as we don't trade away a bunch of the kids.

- Giroux_Is_God

Well...saying it to Panotch is a waste of breathe as it is. And I see your point, the truth sounds almost silly, doesn't it? I would have hoped he would have gone further and said...and since we aren't making the playoffs, ticket prices are being slashed by 20% as well.

Why didn't he just continue faking the injury. He could've claimed a relapse and recurring symptoms. The fact that he as still traded shows how ludicrous it is to speculate that he was faking.

You are.

Each team gets two. Use 'em this summer or next - in whatever fashion you want.

It's awfully hard to fake a relapse after the season ends. Not like he is taking hits while not playing.

Dont really want Teubert but I would take any kind of draft pick.

How do you feel about the Oilers current situation. I'm more along the lines of not liking the make-up of the team. Far too many talented, but soft forwards expected to lead the way.

- flyer_nutter

Teubert going your way is only to maintain our contract count.

As I said at the beginning of this year, this year was one for improvement and growth. While they may not have improved in play, they did improve their results (as evidenced by their not finishing last in the league). This offseason is pivotal for the success of the rebuild. The team needs to add more of a veteran presence while maintaining their core. Guys like Scuderi, Gonchar, Torres, Gordon, Stalberg, Bickell, and Zubrus are all guys that the team needs to target in order to take the next step. Both Pittsburgh and Chicago went through a similar offseasons at a similar time so if the Oilers truly plan on following their path, sh*t needs to go down this offseason.

I'd also hardly call Hall and Yakupov "soft" as they've both proven time and again that they'll do whatever it takes to win. Are they small? Yeah, but size isn't everything.

Really! But it's not hard to fake it during the Season? Didn't you say concussion are subjective?

And you don't need to be hit for concussion symptoms to reoccur. Just exercising strenuously can cause issue with PCS.

Make it David Musil

Say a David Musil or Martin Gernat and a 5th or 6th.
- ob18

That's a pushing it a little especially in the case of Gernat. I could stand to lose Musil so long as we kept Fistric around, but it's quite the risk. Also, that pick would be coming from the 2014 draft. I'll have to stand pat with Teubert being the guy. Either him or Davidson.

Wouldn't be right if we didn't try to push for the better prospect. If not I'd rather just take 2 mid round picks.

We have had this argument before. You place the players on a pedestal and believe them incapable of doing anything unscrupulous... And even more so because they are hockey players. And I believe that they are humans and will look out for their own best interest like all humans do. I know, heaven forbid. My picture will probably be at boarder crossings into Canada and the RCMP will be after me for suggesting it.

How about if it was Davidson? He recently beat testicular cancer and has been playing solid in the AHL since his return.

Sure they are. But if you come back and perform and are symptom free, it's much more fishy to "relapse" without cause. Vs. being in the midst of a concussion and prolonging the recovery time to miss the trade deadline.

Anyone who believes a player was faking an injury to avoid being traded doesn't deserve to have any of his/her opinions validated. They pretty much destroy any semblance of credibility.

Essentially I think you are saying there is a chance players fake an injury, or the length of one. To think its not even possible, is making these guys out to be some kind of puppy healers imo.

I'd tend to agree with you, especially after the greed I saw during the last lockout. Although, I dont think Briere is one of those guys. Just me.
