LOL a Toronto fan being cocky after his team makes the playoffs for the first time in almost a decade. By the way in that time frame you guys could've had seguin and Hamilton(2nd and 9th overall). You also picked 5th overall last year. You picked 7th in 2009. 5th in 2008. Those are pretty high picks too!
- ystoil

7th overall in 2009 is kadri..... yeah he's doing horrible.....5th in 2008 was schenn who turned into jvr.... again terrible numbers(was in his own draftclass 2nd overall)
and the leafs 5th overal pick from last year is progressing nicely. oh yeah and kessel.... 2nd year in a row he is top 10 in scoring.... seguin is in the top 60

not to mention.... playoff hockey.

You don't think we have the ability to bring in UFA Clarkson? And if so, do you think he can replace Hemsky? and play opposite Eberle on a line with RNH? Then we can use Gagner and Hemsky to trade for assets or players that can be used to get us a center that can keep up with Nail and Hall?

Or do you think we could land a guy that did his high school on the border of Alberta and Sask, in Vinny? I have to figure he will be a UFA and then we have a veteran that can fill the whole until our first round pick is ready. I am thinking a 3 year deal at 5 mil. Then still go after Clarkson and Striet as UFA's. Then we can trade Hemsky, Nick and Gagner for a 3-4 dman or maybe for draft picks, which we can use to move up in the draft. Fill the cupboards again.

This will get us two big guys with talent. A 1-2 d. A dman a little better than nick that can't cost more than he is being paid and if so it will be marginal. Plus we get Horcoff's or Landers replacement in the draft. Or maybe we secure two more first round picks. Give two to Florida and someone for their pick. Maybe they like Seth, maybe they don't but they have more holes than just adding another dman to play with Campbell.

Seriously? Edmonton was severely outplayed most of the game last night. Game was not a good sign for the team, despite it being a win.
- Antilles

Yeah, they were playing their backup goalie. All new lines. Missing two of their top 6 and the penalties were stacked against them. They were out played for a lot of the game, which I expected. However 6-1 is always a good sign. There were great things done. Potter didn't engage in either player that attacked him which got the Oil a 5-3 which I tip my hat to him. Nail and Hall showed serious chemistry for a pair that hasn't really had too much time together. This opens all new possibilities. Eberle showed the world that there are few snipers like him in the game.

Plus I think when you score 6 goals in your first 10-11 shots, you tend to coast a little after. Maybe that is just me but I would find it hard to get motivated.

I think he meant more that since you guys clinched a berth a lot of Leafs fans have started offering all sorts of advice on the right way to build a team, when they should just be more in humble thank you mode.

Do you remember Clouts blog yesterday? "Lose, please lose!" To bad those beautiful goals didn't happen when it counted. No different than the Flames playing great with the AHLers.
- whipper334

I am with Clouts. I wanted to finish the season with two losses. The more attention to how terrible Lowe is, the more chance we can break this cycle. However even I was cheering when they scored. No true Oiler fan actually wants them to lose.

I REALLY like him. I do. He is a gamble though. Anyone young is. People thought ROR was amazing too. I like when I have seen a few years of a guy putting up good numbers before I trade a guy that has been doing just that.

this is bull.... guys from the west win trophies..... when they deserve them....... are the rivers out west flooding with all ur tears?
- derm10

What guys? Why would anyone cry over a trophy? The only trophy that matter is the Cup. The only player trophy that matters is the Conn. Everything else is like the Oscars. A bunch of politics that no one cares about.

The Oilers will have only made the playoffs once in a decade as well after this season.
Pot meet kettle.

95% of leafs fans are ok with the Kessel deal. Phil is 6th in league scoring for the 2nd straight year, only Stamkos, Malkin and Giroux have more points the last 2 seasons.
leafs fans have to put up a lot of talk about how Seguin will be a franchise talent, but we already have that in Phil.

The leafs are a young, hardworking team who will only improve. To say they will crash and burn next year to spite a blathering fan is a bit pointless. Both the leafs and oilers have a solid young core, and will be dangerous in the near future. Cheers!

Dude, throw some thoughts out there. Unless my spelling was terrible. I was suggesting going after, UFAs Clarkson, Vinny and Striet. Do you disagree? Have a better idea? I am just tossing thoughts around.

Sam Gagner is 23 years old, 5'11'' and weighs 195 lbs. He has at this point played 47 games with 14 goals and 23 assists for 37 points. He is a -9.

Claude Giroux is 25 years old, 5'11'' and weighs 172 lbs. He has at this point played 47 games with 13 goals and 34 assists for 47 points. He is a -8.

Trading Gagner at this point would be one of the stupidest moves to make. He is not injury prone and has not reached his full potential. At this point in time is the Oilers first line center until RNH gets his career back on track.

- Woowy

Da fak
Are you being sarcastic? I like Gagner, but he isn't in Claude Girouxs league. Compare him with bozak or maybe plekanec(younger) or Weiss

Clarkson to come to Edm is going to get 6 mill. That's a ton of cap. Lets say 5 yrs 30 mill. That coupled with what yaks and RNH are going to expect after what Hall and Eberle got is called cap hell. I think the islanders keep Stiet given the progress in long island
