I think St.Louis snickers a bit then hangs up the phone.

Well, maybe the 2014 first tickles their nipples a bit. I guess they may not have a need for gagner. But he may look good with a big winger like Stewart.

I don't see a lot on there that helps them, especially anyone that they wouldn't drastically overpay to get here.
- sanfordnson

Streit or Clitsome on D... Plus Pardy or Ryan O'Byrne...

Clowe or Horton on a wing

Possibly add Cleary and/or Torres to the 3rd line.

Bold/underlined = Newfies

Exactly! Why is there so much chatter about trading him? I thought he was playing quite well this year.
- whipper334

Offensively yes, defensively not really. Not all his fault. I'm all for trading him while his value is at it's highest. I see teams like Nashville and Phoenix could use his skill set. We have too much of it here. Need more diversity and balance in the top 6. Gagner gets more than paajarvi and I don't know if the oilers want to give up one of hall yak nuge or ebs. Gags may be the odd man out. Nobody here really knows though. The 2013 pick could get moved before him? As much as I don't want to see that.

Id move Gagner in a deal that gets us a top 6 guy with some nasty. I wouldn't move him in a scenario where he's being moved just for the sake of it.

Streit will be going nowhere but down imo from this point on. Clitsome yes I wouldn't mind him. We already have Pardy's and O'Byrnes.

Clowe will price himself out of our range. Horton I've already expressed support for getting. Will also possibly be priced out of our range. Torres is a (frank)ass. No. Cleary..not a bad idea.

So we add Clitsome, Horton and Cleary. Makes us look a little better.

Agreed. I love gagners compete but for the right deal I pull the trigger. I do feel Hemmer should get moved for a pick so we can use that money for ufa's. I'd do that if and after we ink a Horton or clarkson.

I agree. Too many people see him as our only asset and thus want to part ways with him. There is no need to trade him for someone that is worse than him. He isn't costing us more than he is producing, he is a positive influence on the team (he lives with two teammates), he never slacks off, he is not injury prone and he is not afraid to fight, even when the guy towers over him.

However trading gagner for another forward is not that likely. Its not often you see a top 6 for a top 6 so we might need to go for assets and then trade those for the player we want or use gagner to get a dman and the upgraded dman in a package to get us our center.

I still think Hall can play center if we find our choices are all wingers. Lets face it, he couldn't be worse at taking draws.

I think we all have to accept the reality that if they trade Hemsky at all, the return will be low. I say at all because I think a buyout is more likely.

With Whitney, Khabi, Sutton and Jones all coming off the books, space shouldn't be an issue.

Just looking at where the team is, standing wise.

Finish @ about 6th/7th pick...Special teams both Top 10.

It is not quite what was expected of them obviously, but it is a slow rise out of the basement. With a solid special teams unit.

This team is not far from making a run...for the playoffs, not the Cup, not yet.

Is this season a disappointment? Sure. I do find a step back and looking objectively at the results to have optimism in there.

I think an a-hole like Torres would be good for the team.

I just want an Oiler's jersey with clitsome on the back of it.

What's the point of buying him out tho unless you resign him for cheaper? Isn't it better to get something than nothing? I think a first is his value in theory but a second is likely what he brings in.

If anything clearing Hemmer off the books via trade or buyout gives us more money to make it difficult for free agents to say no. We will have to overspend. I just hope it's on the right players. No more softies or tough guys who can't pitch in a bit (eager, hori, Belanger)

We are going to have to agree to disagree on Streit. However if he add Horton, we might be able to get a better two way dman like Ott. Not saying Ott is the only option but his hit totals each year would make him fun to see in an Oiler Jersey. Put him with Paajarvi and Hartkinen (if he improves over the summer) and we have a third line that can put up points, change momentum and hit. Trained right, they could be great as a shutdown line.

Hartkinen is amazing at keeping the puck low in their end. Paajarvi has speed and is more dangerous each month, then Ott is good at face offs and can lay out the top players. That makes us dangerous with 3 lines.

Plus this is an off year. No training camp to learn the style of the new coach. A halfish season. Our top 3 starting injured. No time to fill the holes before the season as no one knew what it would look like. This is not the ideal system for a team with so many young guys playing with a new coach and starting with an early 9 game road trip.

Would take Torres back in a heart beat. Would've liked a sober tootoo or Prust a year ago

Correct me if I am wrong but teams that buyout players can't resign them the same year.

Hemsky is still a good player. He led our team for most of the season in goals. He played a ton of games this year if you look at his lockout games. With the UFAs as they are, Hemsky would fetch a good price. There is almost no one else to pick from for top 6 players and a bunch of them have injury history as well. Plus I think Hemsky would have played more games over the years if the team had a chance at the playoffs. Edmonton never needed to play him injured because they were finishing so poorly. On a contending team he might be out there tonight.

It is simultaneously with great regrets and high hopes that I send this message to you, my fellow Eternians.

I regret the shame that I have brought on not only myself, but my family and to my kingdom. It would be easy for me to shirk responsibility for my current circumstances and blame them on many of the events and pressures of my past, as so many others in my position do.

Indeed, it was only to help protect my father’s kingdom that I began taking steroids and other growth hormones. When I saw how they were enhancing my body, I began giving them to my cat, and got him hooked as well. It was through the strength, power, and rage that the steroids afforded us that Cringer and I became the protectors of Eternia that you all know as Battle Cat and He-Man. And, it was by the power of steroids that we were able to fend off the forces of Skeletor, and Hordak and the Horde.

I cannot begin to express the disgrace I feel in knowing that I have duped my fellow Eternians into believing that the superhuman protector watching over them was not superhuman at all, but a degenerate drug addict. It was only blind luck and the good graces of Grayskull that I was never killed or that none of my friends were. When I think about how easily all of those battles could have gone horribly wrong because of my selfishness, lies, and ego, I shudder.

It was this guilt and the troubles that come with a dysfunctional family that sent me to other drugs. Marijuana was my drug of choice, being so readily available around Eternia. I’d just loom it up until I was numb. But I’d also hit whatever Orko would conjure up for me back in Trolla. The little guy couldn’t conjure a fart after eating a can of beans on Eternia, but he was a master back on Trolla. He’d often bring me hard stuff. I’d snort something called cocaine, and occasionally mainline something he called heroin.

I simply knew of no other way to cope.

I had learned that my arch-nemesis, and the would-be usurper of my father’s throne, Skeletor, was actually my father’s brother–my uncle–Keldor. I learned that I had a long lost twin sister named Adora, or She-Ra as she was also known, who was kidnapped by Hordak when she was a kid and taken to another planet called Etheria. And, I never could shake the rumors that my mother, Queen Marlena, wasn’t actually my mother at all, but that the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull was, which would make Adora my twin half-sister and give me a second half-sister: Teela. (The lies need to stop, Duncan. Teela deserves the truth.)

You see, my fellow Eternians, it would be easy to blame my addiction on my family environment and upbringing. It would be easy to claim that I am a victim of circumstance, but I will not do that. I will not insult you by making light of the seriousness of this problem.

This demon–this monster–is every bit as real as the demons and monsters I have faced many times in the past, yet even more dangerous. Trust me when I say that I would sooner face Beast Man, Trap Jaw, Skeletor or even Hordak before facing this. But face this I must.

So, it is with high hopes that, during my stay here, I will conquer this monster as I have those others in the past and have continued to do so up until this morning. It is my sincere hope that, once I am cured, I can truly be not only the hero that Eternia deserves, but also a role model to her children.

By the power of Grayskull, I will be victorious.

Humbly yours,
Prince Adam

I think they'd keep him for his last contract year for depth purposes or trade him for some sort of asset before he gets bought out.

I just truly wonder what sort of value a small, soft, oft-injured guy like Hemsky with a 5 mil cap hit gets us. After that I wonder, does it matter? He's not part of the future.
