Theodore and elliot are average at best and Andy and MGMT had a falling out.

Sakic has already been approached for the GM job but felt he wasn't ready for it yet and I don't think sherman is as much to blame as Sacco, Lacriox and the Owners.

I would love Gwoz as the new coach, everyone in Denver loves him that much it would be instantly loved by the fans and he is a great coach.

Also MGMT has already decided to trade stastny during the summer.

To be honest, all that is speculative at the very best. Us fans, and the sports coverage have been talking about all of this "should" happen, but I have yet to hear or read a peep from the kroenke's or Lacroix that any sort of changes are coming.

I have this nagging feeling that Sherman, Sacco will be back, and we wont trade stastny either bc they will play the "be patient" card

The Kroenke's and Lacroix have always kept everything in house and have made the avs the most tight lipped organization in hockey so its really all about what information you hear makes sense IMO.

Let me start off by saying I like Sherman as our GM and while a lot of people disagree with me I think he is doing a very good job. Him and Sakic make the perfect team, Sherman signs good contracts (with the exception of O'reilly which was a catastrophe on everyone's part.) and sakic and the scouts can evaluate the talent so Sherman can go out and make good trades. (I also want to point out that everyone who doesn't like the EJ trade always forgets one of the biggest pieces of that trade, Seimens who I think is going to be a MAJOR fan favorite in a few years). We got Mcginn and Sgarbossa for galliardi and winnik who wasn't going to resign with us anyways, we got downie for quincy who single handedly lost the wings their playoff series last year, he landed us Flash for Hannan who played amazing for us and randomly had pulmonary embolism which was negativity affected by the altitude so he couldn't realistically resign with us and finally a young talented goalie in Varly. He brought in players like PA and Mitchell, Hejda (who has played well).

Now that all of that is out of the way, if Sacco is with us next season the fans should riot and people should be fired. Sacco knows nothing about offense (as shown by our poorly planed out power play and our outdated dump and chase system) and this year he has shown that he can't even coach good Defense and the gaffes made by our Dcore have been the worst I have ever seen in the NHL, night in and night out making Peewee hockey mistakes. There are just too many good coaches out there right now to put up with Joe Sacco any longer. The Avs could sign Gwoz from a PR standpoint and everyone in Denver would Applaud and love the move. If you want and experienced coach to bring in some professionalism to the team then you sign Ruff. If you want some youthful energy and the most intense Coach I have ever seen go sign Boucher. Want to keep the new coach in house add previous Avs legend Roy. Just anything but Sacco, the team isn't responding to him, his style is ineffective, he suffocates offense from every player that comes and plays for us and most of all he makes the avs boring to watch, which is why the Avs are the ONLY NHL team to have their TV ratings fall from previous years.

As far as Stastny goes. We have too many centers, MGMT doesn't like his contract and he hasn't played up to expectations for a few years now. We all know the Avs will probably trade him in either the off season or during next years trade deadline while he only has 1 year left on his contract. Trading him during the off season reduces the chance of a team low balling an offer for him or he could fetch a large return at the draft as there is a very small market for impact forwards right now.

Damn my posts keep going way too long. I will say that Sherman is not afraid to make trades to improve the team, now if ownership would only follow suit and give us some more spending money and a new Coach.

One benefit to not trading stastny in the off season also would be if we were to get a new coach with a better offensive system, stastny could be reinvigorated under him and with higher numbers, his trade value would go up

If i'm a GM...I offer more for Stastny than I do ROR. He might be younger but the Avs will soon see that he's a third line center that over produced because of Landeskog.

Whatever happened to all that off season talk about Landeskog playing along side Duchene? Guy gets injured and they never really went back to that did they? I can hardly remember the two of them together!

We can't trade ROR until the trade deadline next year anyways because of the offer sheet.

I never liked the thought of Gabe and Duchene together. They are both great players but they play very different styles so they had no chemistry.

Pa is the winger Duchene needed and if we miss out on Jones, Drouin would probably be a good fit on that line as well. Or if the avs decide to get Mckinnon and trade stastny and ROR then Mckinnon would probably be a good center for Landeskog because they play similar styles.

If we miss out on Seth and end up drafting McKinnon, I still say you trade stastny for D help and like the start 3 be Duchene, O'Reilly, and Mitchell. Have McKinnon play in juniors, bulk up, dominate etc instead of rushing a guy like that into the NHL and ruin his potential Same goes for Drouin as well.

Seth seems the most NHL ready at the moment but really I want us to develop who ever we get for once. ENough of the rushing into the line up stuff

I can't think of anyone the Avs rushed into the team. Duchene, O'reilly, and Ladeskog were all NHL ready and Barrie, Elliot and Seimens have all been given time to develop and haven't been rushed. I actually think the avs are great at not rushing people, I just think Sacco blows at developing young talent lmao.

If Jones, Mckinnon or Drouin are NHL ready then they are ready.

They are all possibilities though. I think its safe to say Stastny will be traded.
However there is a HUGE question mark over O'reilly on what MGMT will do with him once he is eligible to be traded because of the 6.5$mil qualifying offer the avs will need to meet to resign him(does anyone know if there is a way around this?). If MGMT took the whole contract dispute personal, and have already decided to trade him, as well as if the asking price for Jones is unobtainable or to high, then Mckinnon makes a lot of sense as our 2nd line center behind Duchene. Which would leave the Avs to try and fill their current holes by trading away Stast and RoR for quality pieces.

I will say this though, Mckinnon is ugly as hell lmao and Jay-Z wants to be Seth Jones's agent. Can you imagine JayZ with an Avs jersey?

Of course Varly is our goalie for the future, anyone who thinks he isn't has to be kidding themselves. Any goalie would have terrible numbers with Zannon and Hunwick playing in front of them (I am not even stating them as the worst 2, they both get significant minutes.). Varly has flat out stolen a handful of games and everyone knows the avs Dcore is one of the worst in the league (especially with EJ and wilson out for most of the year and barrie in the minors).

A goalie needs a decent group of defensemen in front of them before you criticize them. Also the coaching style has a lot to do with it as well. A good example is Bryz (remember when everyone and their mom thought he was a top 3 goalie) The same goes for Smith who isn't nearly as good as his numbers would suggest.

Ryan Miller is also an excellent goalie, but his team in front of him is soft (Just like the avs) and it shows.

Varly has posted a better GAA than Kippersoft which is a good comparison of a good goalie on a bad team. Varly also has a better Save % than Halak, Bryz, and Kipper again who are all competent starters. He is tied for 3rd in Shutouts with 3 which proves that he steals games.

Finally if you have watched him play you can tell he is an amazing Goalie. He can make stops that will make you drop your jaw. He is YOUNG which is one of his biggest assets is that he will be our starter for a very long time. All year varly has had other forwards get a free lane to the crease and left there to roam free and passing lanes wide open.

There are many things wrong with this team, varly isn't one of them and to think he is is short sighted.

Why this is what you would term a "Stirring the pot" article. Anybody who knows anything knows it's not a serious inquiry meant to go anywhere, it's just fodder to pass around and ponder at the tail end of a season when there's nothing much else of substance to talk about. But--what the hell else is a blogger for the Avs supposed to write about now-a-days?

Its always fair to ask questions, hell even the Denver post suggested trading him.
Not only do I think he is our goalie of the future but I even think he could be one of the leagues elite top goalies that we saw flashes of in Russia.

He wont overcompensate for a bad team but if you put a solid team in front of him, he can get crazy hot and take them a looooong way

Genius Idea: Trade Stastny for a star(ish) winger to play with Duchene and P.A.
