Of course, I could google a place to buy one!

EDIT: So I tried this, and it wants me to order from the Amazon. I'd rather buy local, international shipping is expensive.

You want to be paying Bryz for the next 14 years?

I'd dangle him out there for a bag of pucks and pray someone bites.. if not, you need to keep him for now and hope his value goes up. I just don't see how keeping him on the books for 14 more years is going to help things...

Everyone is calling for amnesty now, left and right. But 8 years from now when it's really getting old and starting to bite you, then people will be crying about that. It's a no-win situation right now unless they can find someone willing to take him on for practically nothing..

- WarriorHockey21

Why would people be crying in 8 years? Yes they'll still have to pay him, but it will be off the salary cap, which is really the only thing that matters to the Flyers.

Unless people suddenly think that the Flyers will suddenly become a budget team that doesn't spend up to the cap in the next few years....which I doubt happens.

Could just mean they want Laughton to participate in practices for the rest of the year and spend some time with the team.

No they wouldn't. As somebody pointed out a few pages back, hink it was Tomahawk, Bryz is the highest salaried goalie in the NHL next year. There's no savings for a poor team trying to make basement.

Briere would be attractive to a team like that, though....just doubtful hed' waive his NMC to go to a team in that situation.

Laughton likely won't play, but the Phantoms season is over. This way he gets more reps at practice and attention from the staff before summer hits.

step 1)Ask Phantoms to sign Wellwood to a 1 year strictly AHL contract to show that the organization hasn't given up on him. He's got great potential if he can soften his hands.

step 2)Trade Brayden Coburn and our 1st round pick this year for a 3rd or 4th overall pick. If possible (most likely not), trade our 1st AND 2nd from NEXT year instead of only our 1st from this year. Having the 3rd/4th, PLUS 7th/8th pick would mean we have a shot at picking up one of the raved about ones (See: Jones, Drouin, MacKinnon, Lindholm, Barkov) PLUS we can pick up one of the great, big body, possible future Pronger status D men who are projected highly (See: Nurse, Ristolainen)

step 3)Pursue a 1 year deal with Timmy Thomas. A goalie carousel is highly motivating in my opinion and raises the level of play from a tendy if they are actually required to EARN their starts.

step 4)Buyout Briere. Sorry but it's time. Highest payed player on the team for very little gain besides for that he's a "good example" in the locker room and occasionally gets some points. If a contract is struck with Thomas, buyout Bryz. It's illogical to keep so much salary for such average production.

step 5)with this new found cap room, pursue some free agents. Assuming these players don't resign, Mark Streit, Pascal Dupuis, Gonchar, Elias, Ribeiro, heck even Jagr (As much as we need RWs XD) are all available as UFAs for short term veteran strengthening. I'd say our top 6 is pretty well filled for forwards, but signing atleast 1 D man (see: Streit) to buy some time while a long-term solution to our blue line woes is raised in the farm or figured out through trade by Homer.

step 6)Replace Lavy, Unfortunately, it takes a very special coach to keep his players attention of the course of many seasons, and Lavy has seemingly lost the attention of his team. Even though Ek thinks Ruff wants a GM/coaching job, I think the Flyers should pursue him. It'd be interesting to see how he does when properly equipped with the right players.

It's not hard to believe.

Don't overpay for goaltending. Other than the top 2-3 guys, there's not much separation in talent among the rest.

Are all goalies I would prefer to have over Bryz. Cap hit, skill level, reliability, crazy level. All better options.

And how many of them are actually available? Then out of that number how many are bona fide proven starters, then after that how many can stay healthy for a full season?

I'm not sure where your questions are coming from. I was responding to other guy's post about there being a top 2-3 tier, then the rest being almost a wash. I was providing my opinion on how many goalies in the league I consider better options than Bryz.

First of all are they really better options following two of those questions whittles some of them out. We've already seen bobrovksy here and his numbers improved after leaving. Point there being this isn't exactly a goalie friendly spot right now. Then how is someone an option if they aren't even available?

it was just a thought get a decent but expensive goalie and plop a bunch of cheap vets and/or cheap young players and ride it out

Unfortunately, they're getting to the point where they need to consider a buyout this summer. The cap situation does them no favors, and going with a Mason-FNG guy tandem, behind a more responsibly defensive team, might have to do.

I'm as big a Bryz guy as there is, but if he needs a solid defensive team in front of him to sustain his level of play at a high quality state, then I'd rather pay less.

All those years of a goalie carousel, there were maybe 3 where the goaltending was the primary reason for a playoff loss. Just as I say that other coaches get more out of less talented teams, other goalies could provide the level of play Bryz has, for less money and aggrivation.

At the end of the contract it will be. But if they move on, I hope it's a buyout. Elimintes the possibility of cap recapture

I just hope they give Akeson, McGinn and Konan some games. Might as well see how they respond. Akeson was a good soldier, accepting a demotion to the ECHL and it'd be interesting to see how his game looks against NHL competition.

I agree might as well see what kind of depth we have for when a call up next season is needed.

I was surprised Bordson wasn't recalled, until I remembered he's on an AHL deal
