I can not wait till tomorrow, I think the last time I was at the game where they clinched the playoffs was 1990 vs Philly, It was the last game of the season & we all stood around the NVMC waiting to see who would win between the Pens & I believe it was the Sabres.. Pens lost & the Isles got in... NVMC went nuts.

Thanks to us making the playoffs that year, we were able to draft Scott Scissions with the 6th pick, Pens with the 5th pick took some kid named Jaromir Jagr. Ahhh good times!!!

a little recap from the bridge. the biggest news is Anders Nilsson played back to back games this weekend and was very sharp giving up two goals on saturday and one on sunday. so this was very encouraging. Kabanov scored a very nice goal which was encouraging to see as well. Matty Donovan finished tied for the ahl lead in points by a defensman. i can't say enough how impressed i was with him. Quietly Pedan and Mayfield look really comfortable on the ice and their skating is much better than i thought it would be. Nelson finished off a great season with a rocket goal from Strome. If this team had half a season together they would have made the playoffs. Some very encouraging signs down here and players who are gonna be chomping at the bit for ice time in the next training camp.

Anders Nilsson is this teams future in net.. it is VERY good to see him getting back into games.. I wish there were more games for him to play in... he missed some valuable time this season.

Nice to hear that RDP has slid comfortably back into his familiar role as a back up...now at the AHL level. I think its fair to say that RDP is DONE.

Trading grabs would be just stupid. He plays on 4th line and get zero pp time. Yet he has 16 goal this season.

Everyone likes to complain about him not finishing his breakaways. Let me ask you this. Name me a other player that even creates those type of opportunities for himself. Our pk is as good as it is b/c of 2 players. Grabner and nabby.

Also you guys have to realize something. You can expect a NHL top talent and give up nothing in return.
If snow listen to guy on this board, we would be rebuilding still

That's fine, as long as he winds up right where he is now after camp concludes.

It's nice to finally have the fan's on this board come around and start praising this team.

3 months ago... there wasn't much love out there.

Some guys have come a complete 180!!! .... (They know who they are)

I think Kasper is the last of the Negative Nellies... but he is a Penguins fan first!!!

It feels good not to have to come on here and defend the rebuild!!!

That's actually not true. There were quite a few Bailey fans myself included but if it makes you feel smarter than everyone by all means think what you want.
- Cptmjl

I don't recall a lot of people saying he should be traded, especially considering the fact tha no one would have expected much in return. I do think that folks had beome resigned to the fact that he would never be a top 10 pick type player. I'm still not sure he is at this stage but that line has great chemistry and thus has likley earned at least another year together.

The Isles still would have taken Scissions even if they had the 5th pick If my memory serves me right it was Uwe Krupp who scored in OT for Buffalo to get the isles into the playoffs

It helps me sleep at night if I rationalize it this way (Jagr would never have been the same player if we drafted him, it was Mario's influence and guidance that brought out that next level in him)

What a great draft & Torrey kind of cr@pped the bed on that one

1. Owen Nolan
2. Petr Nedved
3. Keith Primeau
4. Mike Ricci
5. Jaromir Jagr
6. Scott Scissions
7. Darryl Sydor
8. Derian Hatcher
19. Keith Tkachuk
20. Martin Brodeur
21. Bryan Smolinski
31. Felix Potvin
34. Doug Weight
156. Peter Bondra

that 1990 draft maybe saw a total of 160 NHL games all together for us.

Scott Scissons
Chris Taylor
Dan Plante
Chris Marinucci
Joni Lehto
Mike Guilbert
Sylvain Fleury
John Joyce
R. J. Enga
Martin Lacroix
Andrew Shier

A who's who of talent there!!

Besides Boyes what other forward should they get rid of? I don't want to change it up to much. First line add nino. Leave the second line as is. Third line I personally would like to add ullstrom with grabner. Nelson can centre that line. Fourth line cizikas centres Martin and jj. Then we need to ask yourselves is that to many changes and have the same results.

before any of this happens, YOU need to ask yourself "why am i thinking about next year when this year is soooo goood!!!??!?"

Eh, some of the self-proclaimed Bailey experts here were calling for KO's head too, so maybe all of us were geniuses about some players and not so smart about others.

And as for Nino... does he take Joensuu spot next year?
- jimmc7722

if Joensuu has any sort of value, id be more than ok trading him for something and having nino take his spot on the roster...JJ is nothing more than a 3rd line player AT BEST (although he did have a nice set up to MM on saturday)

I wouldn't mind seeing
Moulson- Tavares- Okposo
Bailey- Nielsen- grabner
Martin- cizikas- joenuu
Strome- Nelson- niƱo
Spares are McDonald and ullstrom

- 2raven2

breaking up the 2nd line??
McDonald has been i HUGE contributor to this team
your 4th line is HORRENDOUS
joenssu shouldnt be knocking off mcdonald or ullstrom.
isles need to spend!!!!! they will be WELL below the cap next year...

What could have been if the Isles selected Brodeur with that pick. Scissons plaque in the HOF will probably be right next to Marty's anyway.

First line right wing (FA or trade), goaltender (FA or trade), and/or a top-4 d-man (be it Streit or a more well-rounded option). Taking care of two of those three needs should put a healthy dent in the Isles' spending needs.
