I feel bad for the kid. I remember how I started thinking differently about life in between high school and college. From all accounts he was a good person in high school and lost his way.
I think that his older brother, who was seven years older, got him at the right time to make things confusing for him.
No excuses, just saying... - rmiethaner
Feeling bad for the kid? He was 19 and had unlimited potential and from reports was just your average teenager. Smoked weed, played soccer, etc. The situation is... Unbelievably sad. But when you start to feel bad just remember he killed an 8 year old boy. |

I understand your point very well...
I just choose to not make excuses for a 19yr old. And I choose not to feel bad for him because 19 isn't THAT young...he's not considered a child solider. He's smart enough to make his own decisions. - Pen15
OK. I guess that is where we disagree is the age. In my opinion 19 is young. It has nothing to do with race, country, or religion. I don't know how old you are, so I am not sure how you feel about the age of 19. Anyway, to each his own. I feel bad for him. You don't. I understand. You can have the last word... |

Jesus would preach forgiveness, you're on the right track here. Most people forget that Jesus forgave Judas on the cross. |

And because a YOUNG MAN (not a child) in university chooses to be brainwashed means we should "feel sorry for him"?
That's a load of sh!t. - Pen15
He's still responsible for his actions, he should still be condemned. He's still awful. But, we should still keep that in perspective |

Analyzing and trying to understand WHY he did the things he did is very different than saying you "feel sorry for him"...
If you can't clearly draw the distinction between the two, then this conversation has probably run it's course. |

Yes it is. Using Jesus as a justification for forgiveness is flawed...and is also not even the argument being made.
Are we talking about wanting to understand his motives? Or are we talking about being sympathetic, feeling sorry for him, and forgiving him? |

I don't feel sympathy for him, but I can understand if someone else did. |

You can use the jesus argument of forgiveness and still not necessarily believe in jesus. That's if you want to forgive him. |

Not really. At this point we know nothing about him (outside of the hand selected interviews by some acquaintances, and family members). He could've very easily NOT been brainwashed...all speculation, and premature at this point.
As a result, I find it very difficult to accept someone saying they "feel sorry" for a guy who we know nothing about yet. |

If you think that I am a Jesus lover and that is why I argue the way I do, then that is wrong.
My argument is HE IS (frank)ING INSANE!!!! Being born that way or taught. That is flawed. |

Jesus is a recycled god...
His character has been used by various cultures and religions over millenniums. |

We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes |

Yeah I watched Zeitgeist too, He's a star chart. I may not believe in the man but I believe in the message. |
